Getting inky!

Good morning all...well it is after midnight!

Well I've had a lovely time with inks today. I was watching the ladies from Inkylicious on Hochanda the other week and they really fascinated me with what they were doing with inks. I've seen Barbara Grey do the same but it never seemed as well explained as the ladies the other day (I'm afraid I don't know their names...very rude of me). Now I know this work isn't up to their standard but I'm a learner! I just happen to have the large brushes these ladies use with the inks..they call them ink dusters. I bought the brushes about eighteen months ago, never been used.  I'd forgotten I'd got them. The thing is I'm so chuffed coz I can use them far better with my wonky arm than I can a blending pad. It is the fine motor movements I have the most problem with so the fact you sort of swish the ink (new technical term!) with the brushes is great for me. Anyway I had a play using a die cut circle for the sun and tore some paper to get the hill effect. I used momento inks for the background then stamped my sentiment and flower stamp in black versafine ink. This was a larger piece of work but I trimmed off the bits I was unhappy with and then backed it onto black card and  I finished with a few gems in the corner.

My second card is what is known as a 'happy accident'. The ladies when on Hochanda dibbed the brushes into the ink pad then dabbed off onto a piece of paper before inking their card. I obviously did as I was told and followed suit. I'd also tried some second generation stamping which incidentally was the bit I didn't use on my first card - anyway the piece of stamping on this second card was my dabbing and my first generation stamp onto scrap card. Well blow me if I didn't love the way it looked. I showed Mr B who thought I was bonkers but after I'd trimmed it and backed it onto black, then added an embossed piece of white onto black and a Kraft card base even he had to eat humble pie and say it was 'OK' - Mr B doesn't waste words...why use three when one will do...ok! Just ok! Anyway I must confess I like this second accidental card better than the first! I'd love to hear yours thoughts on it please....that's me off to bed now...catch you next time x

Christmas card no19

Hi all

This really is a quickie today. I'm posting Christmas card no 19. Can you believe it's 19 weeks since I started this challenge? It is a very simple one with mats and layers of red and white dotty embossed card. The little elements are from a Clearly besotted stamp and die set. I finished with some bakers twine, a little charm and gems.

That's me done guys...until next time x

Baby girl

Hi all

Just a quick post today. I am currently sat munching on choccie biccies (that autocorrected to bicycle so was almost munching on choccie bicycles....that would be a first!) which means I'm feeling a bit better today!  The cold has lifted and fortunately wasn't too long winded! Thanks for your good wishes.

My card is a little baby one...I like doing this type of card. The image is from an LOTV coloured art pad. I die cut it with a Spellbinders die called Fancy Ribbon Threader. I inked the image while it was still in the die. I also cut another of the images out with the ScanNCut and layered it on top. I then had fun hunting some ribbon for it as I hadn't any the right colour in the right width. In the end I weaved a thin ribbon through twice and actually the effect was quite pretty. I backed some pretty paper onto white then onto the card blank. The sentiment isn't very clear in the pic as I stamped it in a very pale pink. I finished with a double bow and a few gems.

Thanks for popping by...until next time...x

Hi everyone

Hope this finds you well. I'm just getting over a stinking cold...I have not been amused. It's funny but since I've been off work for health reasons I've not had any bugs at all even when Mr B and Alf were full of them. Comes of not being round the kids I suppose. Anyway I have a very sore nose, the sniffles and I'm fed up....I know too much information lol. It makes a change from the fibro doing me in I suppose.

My card today is a bit different. I bought some gorgeous masks from you know I'm racking my brains who they were from, I'm sure it will come back to me in a minute. I also bought some Sparkle paints at the same time. Now I had a lot of fun with went everywhere.  Those that know me well know I can't spread anything with my right arm...butter is more likely to end up on the ceiling than on a piece of toast. Well you can imagine what it's like giving me a paintbrush. I had to have help in the end I'm afraid so I can't lay claim to all of this card. I must admit it really got me thinking about what it would be like to craft if we didn't have all the gadgets available to us these days to make our lives easy. When you think about it we have dies for matting and layering - electronic machines if you want to make life easier...or for some of us a necessity. Scan n cut that I can use to cut my stamps out as I'm a bit dangerous with scissors. CD crafting or ready coloured art pads for toppers.

Anyway I digress...back to the card. The sparkle paint was painted through the mask then for the silver edging good old fingers were used. I was just playing really...only thing I don't like...the cleaning up!!! When the flower had dried I trimmed it and backed it onto black and silver mirror card. Then I added it to some lovely freebie bright pink card and again onto black. The sentiment is from an Inkydoodles set of stamps. The finishing touches are some gem thingies that I don't particularly like...I find them a bit big and garish but they happened to be perfect for this card.

Well that's me finished rambling...catch you again soon hopefully X

New love in my life!!

Hi everyone

Thank you all for your lovely comments. It is lovely to be back in the blogging world with you all. I'd like to welcome Granmargaret to my little corner of the universe...

As the title suggests I have a new love. Oh my world I saw this product Metallic Gilding Polish by Creative Expressions on Hochanda last week and you know when you wonder if something is as good as it looks....well this is as good as it looked! I didn't buy it when it was on the show but happened to see it at Colemans so thought I'd give it a try. The pink background paper on this card was originally a plain piece of white paper. Ive tried to get a photo where it shows the lovely sheen the polish gives. There's no horrible smell as it is apparently water based. It is applied very easily with a damp sponge which is stored in the lid (all part of the package). I did an A4 sheet but obviously you do a piece as small or large as you wish. Gosh I sound like a salesperson but I really am impressed with this product. I can't wait to add some more colours to my collection!

The image is from a Woodware stamp and has been sitting in my pile of bits for a few weeks. This was backed onto a piece of the pink and then onto black card. The lacy band was made using a punch from my stash, I just added a thin band of the pink (waste not want not!) leaving a tiny bit of black peeping at the top so it stood out against the pink. The wording was from two different sets...'sister' is from a Docrafts relative set and the 'happy birthday' from a set I bought second hand - not sure of the make. I completed the card with just a few gems.

I apologise for the pics today...I was trying to show the polish off at an angle...not sure it worked lol! Right I'm off....until next time xxx

Fairy dreams

Hello all

I hope this finds you all well. Those who know me well will have noticed I've had a few weeks out of circulation. It has been a full month since I blogged. I made a decision to take time out as I was finding it difficult to keep up with everything...., I hadn't felt very brilliant, I was absolutely shattered and that's without working! Unfortunately that's the nature of the fibro. Anyway I just love blog hopping and there are certain blogs I have followed since arriving in the crafting world three years ago and I've always loved to comment on the work. I have also always been grateful for the lovely comments people have left on my blog. Anyway what I did in the last month was still have a look at everyone's lovely creations but didn't comment on any and I didn't post here on my blog at all either. I made a couple of cards and I've actually even sat and read a book! Anyway I don't know if you've noticed but I've decided to sneak back into the blogging world - I just missed your virtual company so much!

Today's creation is made using a gorgeous image from Whoopsiedaisy designs. She is a pre coloured digistamp - the image printed great even though I accidentally printed her onto a textured card.  These are great as you can resize to your liking. I added some stickles to her dress and wings and the flower to her hair. I used white and lilac papers backed onto purple card. A piece of gorgeous lace, pearl string and pink ribbon were added to the band across the middle. I finished with lovely flowers and more pearls. All in all I'm pretty happy....X
