Coral Anniversary Card

Good evening everyone

I hope this finds you well.  I'm sat quietly (Mr B would say impossible!) all on my own as Mr B is going to be a little later this evening. I thought I might just get my blog post done early today. I am very pleased with the card I'm showing today. I've had to keep this one under my hat for weeks as the names would be a giveaway if seen. It is done in one of my favourite styles. It was a commission from my SIL for her very good friend so it had to be very special. My SIL asked me if I'd had to buy all the ingredients for my card but amazingly I had everything I needed in my stash...I was gobsmacked!

The patterned papers are from LOTV and these were backed onto blush card. A layer of the blush card was embossed too with a band of ribbon and lace across the middle. The heart die cut is made using a Tonic die and the wording is PC generated. I used lots of flowers from Hobby House and finished with a bow, pearl swirl and peach and white pearls. The card was finished with a matching box which was decorated to match. The flowers on the box are from a Tattered Lace die. Hope you like today's creation...thanks for coming by....Lea x

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Male cards

Hi everyone

Thanks for all your lovely comments over the last couple of days. Very strange today to be back with me on my own at home after having Mr B with me for a couple of days. Kitchen/diner is looking lovely and I can't wait for it to be finished. I just love brand new paint. We Moved in the house in September. It's a shame coz the house is 8 years old and a lovely style but I don't think it's been decorated since it was built. Well two rooms are done and the rest of the house looks worse than ever however time will sort it. It's just a pity the fibro rules me out of decorating...not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing lol!

My cards today are two male ones. I like one of them not so sure of the other though. This blue one I like and was made using my fave birthday embossing folder. It was actually a left over piece of card I'd cut a circle out of at some stage. This was trimmed and backed onto a blue card from Creative Expressions. I wrapped Bakers twine round the card three times and tied it into a knot. I cut a loopy circle out of the blue using a SB die and turned it slightly so you can see the White card through and replaced it on foam pads. I added a sentiment from LOTV  and finished with a few gems.

I think with the second card it's the colour that puts me off. The beige card is from Docrafts and I started by stamping the word Happy on it then embossed it using a Spellbinders dotty folder. The panel was made by inking an embossing folder and running it through the Grand Calibur. Both pieces of card were backed on black card. I cut the word Birthday out using a Britannia die. I finished with a knot and gems.

Well that's me done...an early blog for a change....Lea x

Christmas card no 13

Hi everyone.

I hope you've had a lovely Easter. Thank you for all your lovely comments on my cards - I'm am truly grateful for the time you take to visit my blog.

Mr B has been slogging in our kitchen and I must admit it is looking lovely. I unfortunately can't help because exerting myself with things that take any effort can cause a flare up of the fibro. Funnily enough this last few days I have had very poorly legs and have upped my meds which unfortunately has caused me to spend my time nodding off in the chair. It sounds terrible with Mr B working so hard but I just can't help it! I am keeping him fed and watered though so I do have my uses! There has been loads I've watched or recorded on HOCHANDA this weekend and I keep nodding and finding I've missed half the program. I don't know what other people think of HOCHANDA...I actually really enjoy watching it.

Anyway folks I know it's Easter but I do have Christmas card no 13 for you. Some of you might know I am in a challenge on Facebook to make a Christmas card for every week up till 11th December (it's a pity I don't know how to add a link to a FB page).  Anyway so far so good...I actually quite enjoy throwing in a Christmas card every so often.

The image (from a coloured art pad), sentiment and papers are from LOTV. I backed the paper onto a lovely red card from Creative Expressions and mat and layered this onto white and more red card. I did a border strip of white which was embossed with a misletoe folder from Tattered Lace. The snowflakes and die cut the image sits on are from Spellbinders. Finally the bunting is made from a die from Sweet Dixie dies. This is the first I've ever bought but will definitely buy this make again as they make lovely dies at a reasonable price. I threaded red bakers twine through the holes on the bunting - this will be a really useful die which can be used on any sort of card. I finished with a few red gems and a bit of stickles on the fur and glossy accents on the mistletoe berries. This card proves that you can mix and match your dies in your stash and they can quite often work well together....Lea X

Going green

Hi everyone

Well what a change in the weather today...boy did it throw it down. Yesterday was absolutely beautiful so much so I didn't even put a cardi on when me n Mr B went to see his Grandfather. I just cannot believe the change today. Mind you I'm so pleased the sun shone yesterday as it was the wedding day of my very dear friend Nicola's daughter. I'd been keeping my fingers crossed all week and it was a beautiful day for her.

My card today is a green one. Very unusual for me as I'm not a green person. I wanted to enter a challenge over at the Whoopsiedaisy blog and it is for green with a sentiment.  I haven't entered a challenge for a long, long time but I'd printed a couple of digistamps from my Daisy and Friends CD...I used these a lot for cards when I first started out and I do love them...They've been bypassed recently but I've decided it's time they surfaced again.

I just adore this image. The background paper is an LOTV paper and just a perfect match for the image. I backed it onto cream card as I wanted to soften the look. I punched a piece of cream card with the border punch I remembered I had the other day. I added another strip of green paper to this and embellished it with pink ribbon and a strip of flat back pearls. The sentiment is a Dreamees one...I wanted something pretty and it fitted the bill. I added some pearl corners, a pink bow  and lots of flowers and pearls.

As I've said I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Oranges and pink

Hello everyone

Happy Easter to you all out there in Blogland. I hope you have a great long weekend. Mr B is going to be decorating the kitchen diner which will be nice. We moved here in September and there's plenty of work needs doing to the house. Unfortunately it's all left to Mr B as I'm no use to him. I'll have to force myself to craft....Today we've been out to see Mr Bs 104 year old grandfather - bless him he is very weak and won't be going home. Poor old duck he is.

My card is a little different today again. I love these flowers.  I backed the image onto black and red. The background was made blending pink, yellow and orange distress inks. My blending is definitely getting better. I used a border punch for the black lacy effect. I'd forgotten I'd got this...note to oneself must use more often! I finished the card with a few gems and a little bow I pulled off another shop bought card...I don't know if I'm the only one who salvages these before recycling cards...Lea x

Monochrome

Hello all
Just a quick post today. Unfortunately I've not been brilliant. I've sat quietly colouring and Facebooking for the last couple of days. I've not really been in my craft room as the problem has been with my legs and backside! I do have a card that was a quick make. I got a lovely embossing folder free im a mag. I thought I'd try it out...I love it. I kept the card very simple by backing the white embossed piece on black then on white again. I added a flower made from a TL die. There were stamps with the embossing folder too and this wording stamped great...very clear. I then just dressed th card up with gems. I'm sure I will use this folder loads....Lea x

Baby card

Hi all

Hope you are all well. Thank you for the lovely comments on yesterday's post. It was great getting some feedback. I really liked Kathys comment about it being a clever effect to get...believe me it was a fluke. I must admit the more I look at the card the more it does grow on me.

Today's card is just completely different and more my style. It was made for the son of a friend who has just had her first grandchild. The papers are from a baby paper pad and backed onto a pink mirror card and white card. The wording was pc generated and the little image is from lotv I've added lace, ribbon and pearls - I used some pearl corners for the first time too...I really love these...Lea X

Ps I've put a pic of my bin on here. I'm curious - is it just me that has a bin right by me at my desk only everything lands on the floor instead of in it? X

Stamping

Hi everyone

Well that's Monday gone already. I have no idea where the days go.

I've been doing some inking again and I'm just not sure about this card. I played around on one side of the piece of card with ink and water but didn't like it so turned the card over and started again. I inked my acrylic block and sprayed it with water and placed it on the card. This spread giving the effect I ended up with. I inked round the edge with pink. I then used Altenew stamps in black for the flowers and word wishes. This seemed very harsh to me. It was all layered on pink and black card. I then stamped the word birthday and cut it out with a die. This card is a real love/hate creation. I'd be interested what you think....Lea x

Jess's creation!

Good evening all

Hope you've all had a great weekend. I've spent today quietly watching the box while Mr B went out for the day. I went into my craft room this evening and ended up covered in ink. I'm really enjoying playing with my inks and new stamps.

The card I'm showing today is one my son Alfs girlfriend made last weekend for her mum. I now have permission to show it. It is really pretty. When we were looking through my stash Jess spotted a lovely topper - we cut layers to match the outline using my ScannCut. The background was embossed but I'm not sure who the folder is by. This was matted onto black card and gold mirror card. The ribbon was from the range. The card was finished with flowers and black swirls and gems. I think it turned out to be a classy looking card and considering Jess is not a card maker I think it is fabulous.

That's all from me today. I'll be back tomorrow....Lea x

A bit of sparkle!

Hello all

Hope your weekend is going well so far. I must admit the weekend has been quiet here. Mr B has done loads so far unlike my lazy behind. Mind you I'm very tired today which quite often happens if I've been out the day before.

My card is made using another Woodware stamp. This time if you look carefully you can see the sparkle on it. I covered the image with an adhesive sheet and then stuck the image to the navy card....the coloured card is all from a pack of Docrafts card. The aqua card has been put through a basket weave embossing folder from Crafters Companion. I then peeled back the other side of the sheet and covered with Creative Expressions Diamond Snow. This is a really fine glitter and is really gorgeous - a little goes a long way. I kept the finishing very simple by tying a piece of ribbon round the card base and leaving it with a simple knot then adding just a few gems.

I must admit I'm in love with these stamps and am thinking I've got some small card bases in my stash which might make lovely little notelets. Watch this space...Lea x

More Woodware!

Hello all

Gosh can you believe it's the weekend again already? I have no idea where the time is flying to but it is. Not much crafting has took place today as I've had a couple of jobs to do like lovely blood tests. I have no idea how anymore can do a job like that....I certainly couldn't.

My card today is made using another of my lovely new Woodware stamps. I stamped it using black momento ink.  This time I went for the brights colours.  I trimmed it down and rounded the corners with a corner punch. I ran some gilding wax round the edge and buffed it up. I backed some purple card onto gold. I put a band of yellow spotted ribbon across the card and added flowers and a bow. If I had my time again I would lose the flowers but I'm not too unhappy with the final result....Lea x

Love these stamps!

Hi all
Well I've been a busy bee this evening. Mr B and Alf went off to Tottenham to watch the footie so with no one to worry about except myself I just stuck myself in my craft room and got my head down? Alf  bought me some fabulous Woodware stamps for my birthday (chosen carefully by me hahaha) and I absolutely love them. I love the simplicity of these stamps...by that I spose I mean the child like type they are....don't worry I know what I mean. Anyway here is one of the cards I made.

I stamped the image with a black momento ink. The wording was from one of the other sets not this one. I backed cream card onto black. The aqua layer was embossed with a new basket weave folder from Crafters Companion. I then ran some gilding wax from Creative Expressions over it and buffed it up...I'd never used this before and I do like the effect. These are actually all new goodies Mr B bought for my birthday - I had a lovely mish mash of things. The flower was layered onto black and crea, card. I finished the card with a ribbon knot and gems. I must confess I love how this card came out and will make some more in different colour ways....Lea x

Baby, baby, baby!

Hello there blogging friends

I feel I've been missing for weeks but it is only a few days! I've been trying to get a couple of cards made that are needed pronto and I've had to really concentrate coz my poor arm isn't playing ball at the mo. I feel I've missed out on everyone's blogs so off to play catch up in a mo. I had a lovely weekend with my lovely son and his gf. It was the first time we'd met her. It's always difficult to move on as parents I find when a relationship breaks up and you have got very close to the gf but I must admit his new gf was lovely, obviously a very well bought up young lady. All the kids and grandchildren came round Saturday evening as it was my birthday on the Monday which was lovely. I must confess I was exhausted after though hahaha...can't hack it anymore lol.

Anyway I thought I'd blog a baby card. I've never really made many baby cards although I have had a 12 x12 pad of lovely baby papers for ages. Because there are gingham and striped papers I tend to dip into them for other types of cards. I'm not sure of the make of these...sorry! Anyway my image is from an LOTV coloured art pad. I used a circle die to cut it and layered it onto my fave loopy circle die from SB. The papers are layered onto white card. I added a band of pearl embellishment across the alphabet paper. I made three rolled flowers to which I added a gem in the centre.  I then just added a bow and pink gems to finish. That's me done folks...until next time...Lea x

Woodware stamps

Hi everyone

Well it's just a quick post today as waiting for hubby to come home to feed me for my birthday. I've had a quick play with my new Woodware stamps. I did a bit of paper piecing. I cut out the different pieces in LOTV papers. I inked round the edges with black ink so you couldn't see white where the pieces had been cut out. I also used LOTV for the background and layered this on black card. I kept the card simple and just added pearls.

I'm off now to tart myself up. Until next time lol....Lea x

Christmas card no 12

Well here we are with Christmas card no 12. They're coming along nicely. I embossed white card and cut a tree out and backed this with black then silver mirror card. I then cut a tree out of red card from Creative Expressions. The tree die is from Spellbinders. I stamped merry and used a Brittania word die for Christmas. I finished with a red bow and red gems. A very short post tonight...I want to be up early tomorrow for a crafty day....Lea x

Something a bit different!

Good morning....yes it is lol! Very early.

Well I am super excited as my son is coming to stay for a few days. I can't wait till he arrives. The whole family is getting together on Saturday so should be a nice weekend.

My card is a little different for me. I've said before how I've never settled down to making a particular type of card. I don't know why - possibly because I get bored if I make the same thing. I haven't actually ever made two cards the same. If ones been ordered because the person likes the design I always change something. The thing is I love everything that people make so aspire to have a go at it all eventually. This card has been made using a mixture of three different coloured inks for the background. I blended them using a blending tool from Ranger. I'm not sure if the exact colours but it was a pink, orange and yellow. I then stamped with my Altenew peony stamps with a black ink. I coloured the leaves which in a way I regret...I preferred it before I did this it but heyho you live and learn don't you?  I made a smudge by accident which is nicely covered by the band on which I've stamped the wording. I cut butterflies out in black and then layered an inked one on top of this. I finished with black gems. I would be interested in your comments and any advice as I'm really just a learner when it comes to stamping and inking.

That's me done. Have a good day....Lea x

Christmas card no 11....sorry!

A quick post today blogging friends.  You're probably bored with Christmas cards now but I need to keep them coming. This one is very simple.

I stamped a tree using a stamp from Chloe. I bought this a couple of years ago and have never used it. I stamped the word Christmas...this was done with the same stamp I used for the Merry on the last card. I masked off the Merry with tape before I inked the stamp. I then used a Brittania die to cut out Merry in gold mirror card. This was mat and layered onto black and gold card. I then used Nuvo drops from Tonic for the baubles on the tree and for faux pearls in the corner. Well that's me done, now I'm off to catch up on blogs as I missed yesterday.....Lea x

Christmas card no 10

Hi everyone

Well here we are again out here in blogland....I hope you've had a good day. I've had a quiet one trying to avoid the PC as much as possible as my eyes are extremely sore. I take quite a lot of meds and unfortunately the knock on affect is very dry eyes and dry mouth. Imagine what it's like if someone threw sand in your eyes....well that's what it's like. Right enough grumbling here is my card. It is Christmas card number 10 and guess what I've also made 11 and 12!!! They're for another day though.

The card started with layers of black onto silver then white. I had already stamped the word Christmas on a small piece of white card while testing masking off the word merry on an old wooden stamp so it seemed a shame to waste it so I added a large silver happy made with a Britannia die. This was added to the black. The snowflake dies are all Spellbinder. I cut a large silver one and smaller silver and black ones. I finished with a red bow and red gems. I think the black, silver and red are quite striking together....Lea x

Dragonflies

Hi everyone

I hope you had a great weekend. I had a quiet Saturday as Mr B went to London to watch Tottenham and Sunday was taken up with visiting the mummies. I didn't get in the craft room at all. I did however get in tonight to make this card. I have a new love and it is these a Tim Holtz dies. You saw one of the other parts of the set on a previous post. They come in a set of four. I started with a cream coloured card onto which I placed a piece of pink card. I then cut the die twice in the olive card and mounted this onto sticky pads. The dragon fly was a stamp/die set that was a freebie ages ago on a magazine. The wording is from a stamp set by John Lockwood. I then finished by adding gems to the body of the dragonflies and to the corner. I thought with the pink showing through the card worked quite well...Lea X

Nyles creations

Hi everyone. A short post today. I'm posting my other grandsons creations.

The papers and image are all from LOTV. The image was cut out using the ScanNCut. This time we left a smaller border round it. Lots of the dies used were Spellbinders, the flowers were from Tattered Lace. Nyle desperately wanted buttons on his card so they were added on the card and flowers.

Again I think Nyle did fabulous. He needed a bit more help but he is only 7....Lea x

Kids creations

Hello everybody

I hope this finds you well. Thank you for your lovely comments on my blog...it's much appreciated. I'd also like to thank Holley from http://holleybarnhartsblog.blogspot.co.uk/ who very kindly gifted me some digistamps from the huge giveaway she's been doing recently. She is just so generous.

The lovely creations today are not mine. They were made - with guidance from Nanny of course - by my Grandson Owen. He is 14 and him and his little brother Nyle came to stay the other week. Owen actually has a real eye for detail and once he knew where to find the goodies he got on with it. And actually I showed him how to make a box from scratch...his fitted together perfectly and mine was a disaster!

First up is his card. He chose all his papers and image himself. It was good actually because he wanted his image cut out. For the first time since I've had my ScannCut I cut an image out with it and it worked a treat.

Next up is Owens plaque and box. He chose the trickiest shaped plaque to decorate. He glued paper on it and used a sanding block to neaten the edge. He then inked around the edge with a matching coloured ink. He chose an SB die and inked through it. He then stamped Mum and cut this out with an SB oval die and once again inked through the die. This gives the purple shading but leaves the White edge where the ink doesn't touch. The flowers are from my stash - I can't remember which die was used for the butterflies. He finished with pearls and threaded ribbon through for hanging.

Owen then made his box first time...unlike me!!! He cut a square of paper and inked round the edges to decorate the lid. Again he cut out the oval and stamped his wording. He had his eye on some huge purple gem things that were in a pot more for decoration and added these and a flower and bow. I think you'll agree he did a great job. Tomorrow I hope you pop by to see Nyles creation...Lea X

Thinlit dies

Hello everyone

Well here we are again. I can't believe how quickly this year is going...are we really in March already? Thank you for your lovely comments on my cards, it is very kind of you all.  Today's card is made using a Thinlit die from Tim Holtz...it is from a set of four that cut into the card. I cut this die twice into the card once at each end, I then put the card through my SB dotty embossing folder. I backed this onto some Docrafts pale blue card and then onto a lovely teal card from Creative Expressions. I also cut some flowers out in this card using TL flower dies and a butterfly (I'm not sure who the die is by). I finished by added a dazzler into the larger flower and gems onto the other flowers and butterfly. I feel it still needs something else probably a sentiment when I decide who the card is for....Lea X

Christmas card no 9

Good evening everyone

Hope you've had a good day. Thank you for your good wishes for Mr Bs grandfather. Fortunately he seems to be a little better today...long may it continue.

Well I bet you're impressed...Xmas card no 9 hey...I'm impressed with myself that I've kept it up so far. I am a week ahead of where I should be on the challenge too so all is good. The card is another DL shape. I started by making myself a card base from a gorgeous red Creative Expressions card....this matched the centre panel which actually had already had three snowflakes cut out of it for another card. The papers are from an LOTV Christmas pad. This was layered onto a red and then white mat. I cut three snowflakes from an SB die set and glued them into position into the already cut out snowflake spaces. I stamped the wording using a Penny Black stamp and finished with a few red gems. It was a nice simple card and a great way of using up waste pieces....Lea X
