Pretty box

Hello everyone
Hope you've had a great weekend. It's been a strange one here. Mr Bs 104 year old Grandfather was admitted to hospital bless him so yesterday didn't turn out as expected. He has done well so far as he has been living at home still with support but looks like that is going to have to change.

I've been busy making a box for my mum to house her Mothers Day present. I'm quite proud of this creation. The box was from a set of three bought for £4 from The Range. This is the largest one at about 6 X 6 inches. I used some LOTV papers on the side which was embossed with a SB folder. This was backed onto some lovely paper with a sheen on also from The Range - this has also been used on the top of the box. The image on the top is from a coloured art pad from LOTV. and cut out using a Tonic circle die and backed onto two offset SB loopy circle die cuts. I added a mix of flowers with gem swirls on the top. Around the side I added some lace. I started in the centre of the front so that I could hide the join with a bow.

Anyway I hope you like this as much as I do....Lea x

Christening card

Hello everyone

Hope you're having a great weekend. It was a quiet one here although we did have visitors earlier. I was going to spend some time in my craft room but unfortunately I was just exhausted so rested with the TV in one ear while scanning blogs.

My card today is the first christening card I've ever made. The big day is today so here it is...The brief was for a card for a girl but not too pink! I delved deep and found some papers that I bought way back when I started out. When LOTV were selling off their art pads I bought the baby one as I just knew it may come in handy one day. I cut this one out with my scanncut as I just wanted the image. I used my SB dotty embossing folder for the top with the papers at the bottom. I added a band of lemon ribbon and lace. The sentiment was done on the PC and cut out with a Tonic circle die. The two die cuts backing this are from SB loopy circles. This has got a different look because I offset a pink layer with a yellow layer. I finished with lemon and pink gems and a lemon bow. I was very pleased with this card.

Well that's me done for today. Until next time...Lea x

Followed closely by Christmas card no 8!

Here we are again folks

I meant to welcome Jennie as a follower followers list is growing little by little...thank you to every one for their kind comments...they are always much appreciated.

Today as the title says is my eighth Christmas card....I'm quite chuffed I'm keeping up actually. I just don't want to be in the mess I was last year and be fighting to get them made. While I'm thinking of it I should say thank you to Karin who is running the must take some work to keep it going...thanks Karin. I don't know how to link the Facebook page to my blog otherwise I would but it is Only Christmas cards-projects if you fancy a look.

Anyway to my card. The papers are again from the Craftwork cards pack. This time I inked round the edge with tea dye distress ink and backed it onto Creative Expressions blush card. The card base was also made from this blush card. It's actually unusual for me to make DL cards. I don't know what came over me lol!!!  I had the baubles ready stamped and embossed with gold embossing powder....these were from a stamp set by Chloe. I inked round the edge of these to tie them in with the paper as they were a bit white. I hung the baubles from some thin peach ribbon and added the bows. I finished with my usual gems. It's quite a simple card to make so will probably revisit this design and make more. Until next time....Lea x

Christmas card no7

Hell everyone

Well it's been a few days since I blogged and it's not because I've not been making...its coz I need to keep some things under wraps until the recipients have them. I must admit a couple of things I've made I'm sort of very proud of and am itching to show you but unfortunately it will have to wait. Instead I have a Christmas card to show you. This card  is to keep on top of the challenge I'm in. I made two Christmas cards today one for next week too to get ahead of myself...that will be a first I can tell you!

Anyway the holly paper is from Trimcraft (I'm using lots of old papers at the mo)...this was put onto a hammered effect base card. I then backed paper from Craftwork card onto my fave linen effect card and raised this on foam pads. The stamped words are from an old set I own and the poinsettia is from the Craftwork card kit too. I just finished with a few gems just to keep it simple. I do like the colours in this actually....Lea X

Hi all

Hope you've had a great weekend. It's been very quiet in our house...actually its been extremely quiet just the two of us after the boys being here!

Well you must wonder just how many nephews I have as I always seem to be making nephew cards. The answer is quite a few! I embossed this brown card using a mask not an embossing folder. I'd never done this before so was having a mess about. I've gone back to using my Grand Caliber for embossing as I can never work out the plates for the ebosser...I was spending more time trying to sort this so gave up and went back to my old faithful. I backed it onto blush coloured card. I made a band for across the middle and added some screw brads. The orange string is actually off clothes tags. I knew it would come in handy some time. Waste not want not....

Well that's me done for today...until next time...Lea X

Hi all

I feel like I've not blogged for ages but it's only a few days. I had my two lovely grandsons here with me for a couple of days. That was lovely but also very tiring when you're not used to kids being around you. I did enjoy crafting with them. They both made a couple of bits for their mum. I obviously guided my seven year old grandson Nyle but Owen my 14 year old has shown he has a real eye for detail. I'm looking forward to Mother's Day when I can blog their creations. Anyway they returned home yesterday and today I collapsed lol. I caught up with the tv and I didn't go near my craft room as I was just exhausted. I am however looking forward to next time. It was so lovely to have the company as it can get quite lonely being at home on your own all day. Unfortunately the fibro quite often tailors my life not the other way round....each thing I do has to be planned for....if I overdo it it knocks me for six. So I don't go out very much at all. Anyway I'm not is what it is and it could be so much worse. AND if I'd never got the fibro I most likely wouldn't have discovered the crafting world...and I just love my crafting.

My card today is a little difficult to see. I used the groovi system to do the parchment. If anyone out there is still sitting on the fence over this don't...I just couldn't have done this without it. I've tried parchment before but been very unsuccessful because of my tremor. I find writing very difficult (not a good look hahah) so couldn't do the line art for parchment and this has just given me the tools to be able to get some control....I still have my moments but it is a vast improvement. Anyway I digress...back to my card. I matted and layered the parchment with pink and white papers. I wish I'd put a smudge of colour in the parchment work but too late now. This is why I used butterflies and a lovely ribbon to embellish it. I finished with some pearls under the watchful eye of Owen who suggested using pearls and to corner them. Right I hope you all have a fabulous weekend...ill no doubt catch you soon....Lea X

Flower heart!

Hi everyone

Well I think I've caught up with everyone's posts...if I've missed you give me a shove! No crafting happened over the weekend as we went to watch Mary Poppins at the theatre. Oh my word it was amazing...I can not imagine how much work goes on not just by the actors but the music, the scenery...well just everything. If the show comes near you I would really recommend it. I actually bought the tickets for Mr B for Christmas as he loves the film - he also loves Chitty Chitty Bang Bang so that is next on my list. Anyway fortunately Mr B decided the second ticket I bought was for me....PHEW! Hahaha.

Anyway back to the real world card was made last time I had my AlteNew stamps out. It was an experiment really to see if I could ink through a heart. Well it just about worked. I would just stick to the tiny flower stamps next time with a few leaves.  I do think I may make a couple of anniversary cards like this. I just backed it onto a few layers of blues and white. The darker blue was embossed using my SB dotty embossing folder. I then just kept it simple with four gems.

Well that's me done short and sweet today. I'm actually very tired after the weekend (the fibro unfortunately knocks the stuffing out of me when I do anything out of the ordinary) so I'm just resting today...Lea X

Christmas card no 6

Hello everyone

I hope you've had a great week. It has just flown by...well I think so anyway. I have no idea where the time goes. I popped out to The Range today. I got into a pickle...I only went for some gems....yep you know how that goes don't you fellow crafters. Well when I go out to the shop I use a stick because I need that extra support because of the fibro. I was ok with a pull along basket but when I got to the till I had bought so many goodies it was a real juggling match (normally Mr B is with me at the shops to do the packing) - fortunately chivalry is not dead and a chap helped me get unraveled lol. I had seen Sweet Dixie dies on The Craft Channel (this channel is really growing on me) the other day. Well they were lovely dies and so reasonably priced I knew I would succumb eventually....well they've got them at The Range. £4.99 I paid for a nice sized die. They had a good selection...the only problem is they're not shown to their best as they're all on the same peg so you have to remove them all to get to what you want.

Anyway to my card....Christmas card no6...I'm on track....the papers (backed on to white) and image are LOTV. The snowflakes are from SB dies and the wording is from my stash. As usual I finished with red gema. A nice easy card to make.....Lea xx

Hello everyone

Well a few more minutes and it will be Wednesday already! I can't believe how quick the week is going. Everything is back to normal after my sons visit and all is quiet again! I'm looking forward to next week as it is half term and two of my grandsons are coming for a couple of days. I thought we'd have a crafty couple of days and make Mothers Day cards ready for next month.

I've been watching Create and Craft today and AlteNew stamps were on again. These really are my new fave stamps. I'd bought the ones on the show I wanted last time they were on but it gave me that nudge to get them out to play again. I do intend to build up these stamps by buying older stamp sets from other websites. I'm very much a flower girl and they do lots of different flower sets...some sets aren't my cup of tea - like ice lolly or sweets - so I'll pass on those.

Anyway my card today is suprise, suprise made using these stamps. I needed to make a card for a very dear friend who lost her Dad last night. I don't normally send sympathy cards as I'm not so keen but as I no longer live near enough to give my lovely friend a big hug I decided to make a 'thinking of you' card instead. I must confess I stole the idea for this card from a demo on C&C today. I just thought it was so simple and easy to make. I used a die cut circle as a mask and built up the flowers around this. I also added in a few leaves. Obviously you can change the colours to suit and it would work. After removing the die cut I stamped the sentiment which is also from AlteNew. I love these bold sentiments. I then chose backing papers to suit the colours I used for the flowers. I then added little gems to the centres of some of the flowers...I got a little carried away with these as I only intended to add a few...I also added the three to the you ever feel you state the obvious....Lea x

Christmas card no 5!

Hello all

Well here we weekend is over and my lovely boy returned home :( we did have a lovely time. We went out for dinner up the road last night where silly me left my cardi and scarf. Fortunately they hung onto it for me till this morning when Alf and I collected it. We then diverted to Aldi for lemon juice for pancakes. Ever since Alf was little we have always made pancakes together and Alf normally devours nearly all of them but with him not living with us anymore I thought that the tradition would be bypassed this year...well it wasn't. We made eight pancakes...he ate six and a half of them! Funnily enough they were the best ones we'd made!

Anyway enough of that, now to my card. So far, so good on the Christmas challenge over at Karins FB group. This is Christmas card number 5 and what a mishmash mash of manufacturers elements I've used.  The gorgeous red card is from Creative Expressions (I'm not one for red but I love this colour) and the striped paper is from a Craftwork Cards kit. I used a Tonic trellis die to cut the red card. I must admit my die slipped on the second pass through and mucked up part of it...which is very well covered by the SB Christmas tree die cuts! These, the parcels and the holly leaf die cuts were already in my 'die cut' pot so I thought I'd make use of them. The wording is from Brittania dies and were also in there. I tend to cut a few of these at a time. I must admit I faffed around a bit with the layout of this card...I kept changing my mind about which image to use to..I settled on this Elizabeth bell one...I've a few of these in my stash as I was given them.

That's me done for here again soon....Lea x

Special friend

Well it is the small Wee hours lol. I've drank a couple of cans of Diet Coke this evening and it has had the effect of making me not tired at all! This isn't good coz tomorrow I have a VIP visiting me so need to be up and at it in the morning! My lovely youngest son is coming to say I'm excited is an understatement. I haven't seen him since Devember 27th :(  I really do miss having him about...the place just comes to life when he's about (mind you there's also been times when I could throttle him!).

My card is made using an Lotv coloured art pad. I adore this image...its just so cute. I used SB labels 20 to cut the image out. As this was the largest die and I wanted to back it with the same die shape I used a little trick I learnt from watching Sue Wilson. That is to cut another the same size (in this case I used a coordinating piece of card stock) and them cut it down the centre. Then you glue and position the die cut so it 'shadows' the image. The backing papers are also Lotv and are backed onto white card stock - I just rounded the corners with a corner punch. The wording is from an old stamp set I have..I like this font a lot. I'll probably add a happy birthday sentiment before the card is sent. I added flowers, a lace bow and coloured pearls. It is a very pretty card in real life...Lea x

Happy Birthday

Hello all

Well I said I'm using bits from my stash...well the papers on this card are from a pad from eons ago! I needed to make it a male card so really dug deep for these. Even the green paper they are backed on is from a 6 X 6 pack of coordination card that probably was one of the first things I ever bought! The stars and birthday cake are made from a Sapphire die set which was run through the new love of my life my little Sapphire die cutting machine. Poor Mr B is out of the window now! The stamp was from an old stamp set too suprise, suprise! I do apologise for the photo...I was being super efficient late at night and bagged it to store and then was too lazy to take it out to take a pic.

Well I'm done for today (nice and early please note). Thanks for popping by. I'm grateful for your lovely comments....Lea x

Wednesday, 3 February 2016

Hello all

Well I'm just having a quiet week this week...I'm tired! Unfortunately one of the horrible effects of the fibro - it always seems ridiculous to me that you can be so shattered when you've done so little. It can be like someone has pulled the plug! I have tried to do a little crafting. I'm amazed really..I have done up to Aprils family birthdays already and made four Christmas cards and made a couple of MDF things! I just hope it carries on this way.

Unfortunately this picture of my craft room sign is awful. I just cannot get a decent photo of it....the actual pieces came from Stamps Away. I must confess at one stage the sign looked so different. I had a play originally with gilding flakes but I hated how it looked so re-covered the sign with a LOTV paper and inked round the edges of it. I also put faux stitching round the edge (I'm hoping when the sign is on my door I can get a better pic). I used versamark clear ink on the wording and covered it with purple embossing powder and heated it with my heat tool. I used Tattered Lace flower dies for the flowers...I now have the Sapphire die cutting machine on my desk and it is great for any little dies....makes the job so easy. I added buttons to the flower centres and a few gems. The sign looks so much better in real life....Lea x

On track! Christmas card no 4!

Hello bloggers

I hope you're having a good week.  It's been a bit weird for me...I just feel my heads elsewhere! I don't seem to be getting very far with anything! Hey ho I spose its only can only get better hahaha.

My card is my fourth Christmas card. So far so good, I'm on track so far! The card is a bit of a mishmash of bits I'd got cut out already and decided to use. The background card was from a freebie kit on a magazine. The pink embossed piece was in my stash and I backed this and the background onto gold mirror card. I added ribbon and lace across the middle.

The bow might be overkill I'm not sure. The image was cut out using an oval SB die and backed onto another SB scalloped edge shape. I really am using a lot of my old dies at the mo. The little snowflakes were little stickers in my stash that I bought years ago. I'm not sure where from. The flowers were left over from a load I made for a craft room sign the other day. The trees were cut out using an SB die. I did stickles these but decided that too was overkill so covered most of the glitter up with another tree.

Anyway that's me done for today. Until next time...Lea x
