Generosity of blogging friends

Hi everyone

I want to start today by saying about how lucky us crafty bloggers are...not only do crafters share their fab ideas but quite often they can be very generous by giving crafty goodies away just for commenting on blogs....of course when I say 'just for' I don't just mean 'just for' as most of us know how much time it takes to visit blogs and leave lovely comments. I am extremely grateful for the time and energy people spend visiting my blog and for all your support. I am grateful to those people who have given me lovely gifts when I have won a draw on a blog....the latest being Linda Simpson who recently did a giveaway. I have just become the lucky recipient of a stamp and a set of 22 Chameleon pens - how lucky am I? Thank you so much Linda for your generosity....I am very grateful.

My card today is made using my new AlteNew stamps. Change the colour, change how you stamp them and you have a completely different look! The background was stamped by stamping and masking. I made a mistake which is covered by the cut out flower and leaves....seemed a shame to waste the background. I ran a pearl band across the middlish of the card. It was all backed onto layers of purple, black and cream. The wording was from two of my trusty go to sets of stamps. I finished with some mauve ribbon and gems.

I quite liked how it turned out. Right am off to play catch up on some blogs as I stayed at my Mums last night (I left poor old Mr Germ...whoops I mean Mr B at home on his own cruel wife that I am!) so am a bit behind...no internet at my Mummy's! Until next time...Lea x

Groovi anniversary card

Hi everyone

Yep it's late/early as usual. Unfortunately yesterday and today haven't been some of my better days...I've not got what Mr B has had (touch wood) it's the horrible fibro coming for a visit. I'm afraid I've sat quietly for two days watching tv snuggled in my pjs and dressing gown. Mr B has been at home too but is starting to feel more human now.

I picked up my Groovi stuff last night to try to occupy my mind a little...it worked! It does take a lot of concentration for me to do this as my tremor plays up just at the angle you write at...that is where I have no control and my arm takes on a life of its own (it can be frustrating but it is part of my life so I'm used to it) I have however worked out if I tuck my arm in I can with a lot of concentrating control my movements to do what I want here. This is where the Groovi system is brilliant for me as I can not do the outlining of the original type of parchment.

I used the poppy plate and just picked out two of the flowers...for those that don't know the system you don't need to use everything on the plate, you can pick and choose elements. I used the border plate to do the frill round the edge. I did some white work on the edging...I think I'm getting the hang of it now. The tag shape was from a new plate...to get the red tag I just followed the tag shape round and cut it out. The wording on the tag was from the starter plate and the little flower elements were just bits I picked out on the poppy plate. I cut an aperture in the red card which is from Creative Expressions. This card is lovely quality and embossed beautifully with an embossing folder that came originally with my embosser so I'm not sure of the make. I put the circle I'd cut out under my parchment so it stood out. I added ribbon and a bow which actually came off a Christmas card (I have the tendency to rescue bits and bobs off old cards before they are recycled), some black gems and a black dazzler. The 'Happy Anniversary wording on the card is not actually attached yet. It is an anniversary card but I'm not completely happy with this wording yet.

Anyway that is all for now...I've done my travelling around everyone's blog tonight (I hope I haven't missed any of you) so I think it's off to bed now...until next time...Lea x

Especially for you!

Hi everyone

I'm getting good at this blogging malarkey even if it is always very late at night. I've had a quiet day today...Mr B has been at home as he's still not well.

My card has a gorgeous LOTV image on it. I went back to my old faithful SB dies...I'm trying to use more of what I already have.....I think you just forget what is in your cupboards and folders. As well as cutting out the image I also cut another layer out too and inked through the die with a memento ink. The papers are from LOTV too - I rounded the corners with a corner punch.  I added a band of pearl embellishment across the centre of the card along with some lovely lace I forgot I had...I'm telling you this sorting out my craft room has really opened my eyes to what I've got. The wording is from a free stamp set I got on a magazine ages ago. It may become a Mothers Day card so Mum may be added later.  The flowers were in my stash. I finished with pearls and  pearl swirls..

All in all I hope you'll agree a very pretty card...Lea X

Christmas card no 3

Hi all

Well here I am again folks with my third Christmas card. I know there are those that think we're bonkers making Christmas cards but it is hopefully going to save me a lot of stress this year! This is a mismatch of lots of different makes. The red card is from Creative Expressions and the papers and poinsettia are from Craftwork Cards. The little topper and green tag were in my stash. The White card was embossed with a snowflake folder from Tattered Lace. The snowflakes were created using SB dies. I finished with red ribbon and gems.

I made a couple more men cards using the backgrounds I made the other week...Lea X

Aqua and cream!

Good evening all

Oh crikey I've just realised its actually morning by about 15 minutes...I've been engrossed in my craft room watching Scandal at the same time..I don't know if anyone watches it but it is very good! I thought I'd write my blog while I wait for my hot chocolate to cool. Mr B is snoring away next to me (I'm sure I'll be very popular if he ever reads this) and is still poorly poor old thing!

Well as you can probably guess I've been playing with my new Altenew stamps tonight. I just love these stamps. The stamping on this card was quite quick - it was the layers that took a long time plus I had another card on the go alongside it. I'm pleased to say I'm into making my April cards already...long may it continue. I did ask Altenew about their Angel policy today because I thought these will be great cards to sell.

Anyway this card was stamped using the two shades of blue and a green. As I said very easy to do. Up close it looks like I've used a wax crayon on it. I backed it using an aqua card from Creative Expressions (I had some lovely new colours delivered from Julia Watts online shop and Cosmic shimmer glue that I was desperate for....very prompt service I must say) and a teal and cream card that were leftovers from the free members gift from C&C a few months back. I finished with some teal gems. Oh I forgot both lots of stamping were from free magazine stamps!

Right until tomorrow all...Lea X

Go to folder

Hi everyone

Hope this finds you well. It is thoroughly miserable outside again...absolutely pouring down! Yet they reckon a heatwave is coming...if you can call 14 degrees a heatwave! Mustn't grumble though if it becomes warmer...those are perfect temps for my fibro..not too hot and not too cold!

My card today is made using the men's coloured art pad from LOTV which unfortunately are discontinued now...gutted or what? I used my round Tonic die to cut the image out and backed it onto an SB loopy circle die cut. These are two dies I use all the time. I was always getting them out of my heavy folder until someone said they kept their 'go to' dies in a box near to hand so guess who now has that box by her side. It makes such a difference just reaching for whichever one I want. The trick is not to have too many faves otherwise I can imagine you'd be back to square one wading through loads of sets. I've only got five sets in the box at the mo.

Anyway I digress...back to my card...I ran a piece of Kraft card through a Tattered Lace embossing folder and a piece of white card through an SB dotty folder and backed these onto the same mirror card I've used on all my other layers...it's a pale green colour.  The 'Happy Birthday' wording is from an old set I've got and the 'Brother' is from a Docrafts family set of stamps. These two sets sit in a small 'go to' folder of stamps I've got. I've always had this folder by my side so don't know why I hadn't thought about doing the same with dies. I must admit when I sorted my craft room I was a little gobsmacked at how many stamps I own...I don't know where they all came from hahahaha! I finished the card with a few matching gems.

The second card is a different colour way of yesterday's pink one.

That's all from me folks..until next time...Lea x

Decisions, decisions!

Hi all

This is a quick post as its late/early.  Poor old Mr B is poorly with some sort of lurgy so I'm trying to be quiet....plus I'm hoping he keeps it to himself!

My post is called decisions, decisions because I've got a few cards lined up as they are flying out at the moment and I don't know what to show first.

I've been playing with my new AlteNew stamps again. I am still trying to get the hang of building the layers up of them.  I do love the colours of these inks. I just happened to have backing paper and gems that were the perfect colour for it too.

The second card is similar to last weeks in that the background was done by inking the embossing folder. I just added a band with bakers twine on and finished with gems and a bow.

Thanks for stopping by...Lea x

Christmas card no2

Hi everyone

Well it's Christmas card number 2. The papers, tag and poinsettia are from Craftwork cards. The paper was backed onto layers of green coordination card and Kraftcard. I finished with some coloured pearls I forgot I had. Tidying my craft room helped me see just what I'd got. At the moment I have two girly cards on the go and have been using dies I bought at the beginning of my crafting life. Only thing is I've been so busy I've run out of cosmic shimmer glue and almost ran out of card blanks....time to shop methinks....Lea X

One stamp, three ways!

Morning all

Well for once it's not the middle of the might...I'm up early as I have a job to do for my son and husband...attempt to buy Tottenham vs Arsenal match tickets! Being up at an ungodly hour had better be worth it especially as I don't feel particularly well today.

I have three cards to show. I bought some lovely stamps from AlteNew the other day. I just love them so have had a play already. I had been looking at them for ages because I love how you build them up. I used the same ones to start and decided to layer them differently. They would be great for batch making which was in my head to start with but I just couldn't bring myself to make the same card!

The embossing folder used on them all is the old faithful A4 dotty one from Spellbinders. I used layers of purple and black on the first two cards and used a corner punch to round each layer. The circle and apertures were cut out using a Tonic die and a loopy circle SB die on the first card. Confused yet? The first two were finished with a bow, gems and tiny flower.

This third card was an embossed piece of card backed onto black. The SB die cut flower and Sue Wilson flourish were in my bit box already. I finished with some gems. I hope you managed to keep up...Lea X

Something different for me!

Hi everyone

Well the snow finally hit us and I was a coward and didn't set a foot outside. Guess where I spent the day. Yep you guessed...in my not quite as tidy craft room now!

I have something totally different to show you today....my first ever MDF project. Now it's not grungy like a lot of people's creations but I am very, very pleased with it as is the recipient, my eldest sons girlfriend. Now she is a bit of a crafter herself but since she moved in with my son she hasn't had her own crafting space. My grandchildren stay with their dad quite a lot so they each have their own bedroom and they have a living room with dining area where the menagerie of animals live not leaving much space for poor Evie. Well my lovely son decided to suprise Evie for Christmas and move things round to incorporate a desk in the dining area (along with a huge Guinea pig cage!!!).  Bless him he was so good...he spent ages sourcing everything she needed as well as storage and crafting goodies. They both gave me a little plaque for Christmas to go in my craft room so I decided to return the gesture.

The MDF sewing machine had been in my stash for a while just waiting for that special home. It came from Inkydoodles. All the little elements came with it. I painted the machine with Aqua acrylic paint (to be honest I didn't know what to paint it with but had it in my stash) and the turning wheel with a purple. The machine handle, needle and little scissors were made to look metal by covering them with a clear versamark ink pad and heat embossing them with several layers of silver embossing powder. The hearts were covered in LOTV papers then the lettering stamped on them. The mannequin,  cotton reels and buttons were stamped with matching Inkydoodle stamps and heat embossed in white. The mannequin was then dressed in a lace skirt and the cotton reels were wound round with bakers twine. The tape measures were also in the stamp set and after I stamped them in an aqua ink I curled these round a pencil so they looked like wound up tape measures. One of them I stamped the word 'crafty' on to so I could complete the message 'Evie's crafty space'. I then finished with a few buttons from my button tin and added some string for hanging.  Phew I think that's all! All in all I was very pleased and am itching to do some more little MDF bits I have in my stash....Lea x

All spic and span!

Hi all

Hope you're all well...the sun has been out today and although it chilly ion think mind that at all - I just dress for it!

My card is a birthday one for my cousin. It was quite a simple one. The other day I'd played around with my inks and fave embossing folder and made backgrounds in all different colours..I backed this one onto purple card and cut an extra strip for a band across the card. I used some flowers already made in my stash. These were left over from a few weeks ago and were made stamping a flower stamp with versa mark ink onto velum and adding embossing powder and heating with my heat tool. The stamp was from Dreamees. These were layered up and a pearl added to the centre. I left it at that as I didn't think it needed anything else.

Yesterday I decided it was time to sort my craft room to how I wanted it. As many of you know I moved last September and to be honest I just unpacked my craft stuff and it went where it landed. Well yesterday was sorting time and as my desk looked like tip that got sorted too (but as my fellow crafters know there's no guarantee it will stay that way!). I moved my desk round a bit as where my scanNcut was it wasn't really easy or get to.

Please note how tidy it is...maybe this time in a month I'll take some pics of what it looks like then hahaha....Lea X

Christmas week 1

Hi everyone

Well suprise suprise I've made a Christmas card.....the first one of the year. I've decided to join in with a challenge being run by Karin on Only Christmas Cards-Project on Facebook. The challenge is to post a Christmas card every week this year from January 11th until December 11th.  I am informed by her if I follow the challenge I will have 46 cards ready for Christmas. As I was so far behind last year I've decided to take her up on it.

My card is made using a coloured art pad from LOTV...I will be using a lot of these images as I have two pads.  The papers are all LOTV too and they've been backed on white. The wording...well I think you can guess where that's from! These are great stamps as they cover lots of occasions and you add the relative in. The little parcels are SB dies. I finished with some bakers twine from The Range and a few gems.

I'm off to add my first Christmas  creation to FB now....Lea X

Birthday cake

Hi all

Hope this finds you well. This is my second go at writing this....I'd written it, got sidetracked and lost everything I'd written! I've been having a lot of fun here. Most of you will know I have a dystonic tremor in my right hand and as I am right handed this causes me all sorts of problems. I find it a struggle to write and it affects a lot of my fine motor skills. If I use a knife I have to use it as though I'm going to stab someone (I can see you all looking at your hands and working that one out!). Well I'm working on a project for my sons lovely girlfriend. This has involved painting...yes painting with a diddy paintbrush which I have no control over hahahaha. I have had paint everywhere....its been a lot of fun although I'm not sure I'll be doing it very often. Anyway I'm not quite finished with my project yet so that one is for another day.

This card is made using an LOTV coloured art pad. Like many others I was disappointed to hear LOTV are stopping making these art pads and their lovely paper pads...I am gutted! It did however give me an excuse to order some more!

The papers are from a Fabulous Fashion CD by Katy Sue designs. These were in my bit box. They were backed onto cream and silver mirror card. The label, cupcake and balloon die cuts are from an SB Sapphire die set. The flowers were in my stash and I finished with a few pearls....Lea x

Monochrome Husband!

Hi all

I hope you've had a good day today. The rain actually stopped today and the sun attempted to show itself here! But boy is it chilly tonight...I'm currently laid in my bed blogging with my pjs on, socks and cardi and my dressing gown on the bed to keep me warm! I hope it's warmer where you are...mind you it is Winter so we shouldn't complain really.

My card today is a monochrome one I made for Mr Bs 50th birthday which has been and gone. I find making cards for him quite difficult because I know he can be quite picky...not that he'd ever criticise but the card for your hubby is extremely important isn't it?

The embossing is from a Couture Creations folder that was one of the first I ever bought...it's a very handy one for men. The die cuts are from Tonic dies and the piercing round the edge of the white mat was done by hand using a piercing ruler. The wording was from an old stamp set. I finished with black gems.

That's all from me today folks...until next time....Lea X

Simple

Hi everyone

A quick post from me today with a very simple card.

I started by using an ink brayer to ink up an embossing folder. I actually made this background card in lots of different colours to be used at another time. I backed this colour onto layers of black and white. I finished the card very simply with three coordinating gems. I said it was a simple card....Lea x

Pretty flowers

Hi everyone

I'm back after a few days off. It's been a case of getting my crafty head back on as other things have got in the way. I don't think I've even wished you all a happy new year yet. Happy New Year to you all. Welcome to Debbi who has joined me as a follower. I really love her enthusiasm.

I'd like to say thank you to everyone for commenting on my blog over the last year. I have loved looking at all of your blogs and will try to keep up the visiting again this year.

Right to my card today. This card is for a dear friend who I left behind in Gloucester when I moved a few months ago. It was her birthday yesterday and she's been away sunning herself lucky thing.

My image is from a coloured art pad from lotv as is the backing paper. I love this colour. I found a piece of embossed card floating around on my desk so decided to use it. I added a strip of pearl embellishment down one side. As you can see I had a lovely time with flowers I believe came from Hobbycraft. The leaves were a little big so they were trimmed to size. The butterfly is a die cut one. A few pearls and a bow finished it all.

Right I'm off to bed now. Catch you again soon.....Lea X
