Groovi son and LOTV

Hi all

I thought I'd blog another Groovi card. This was for my gorgeous son. It was one of the last Christmas cards I made. Although I used the bauble plate I've used before on the parchment, this time I mounted it different. I used Tonic circle dies to give me apertures in staggered layers of white, purple and gold. I added gold and purple gems to finish.

This LOTV card is the last Christmas card of the year (do I hear a chant of yayyyyy!). It was made using one of the Christmas paper packs...I used lots of layers of black and gold on this card. I finished with a bow and some gold gems.

That's me done for tonight..until next time...Lea x

Butterfly wreath

Hi everyone

I hope you had a great Christmas...it seems like it came and went just like that!!! I've had Mr Bs 50th birthday to contend with and his sister and Mums birthday too. On the 27th I was desperately looking for a gap to put Mr Bs birthday cards - I have no idea how his Mum used to manage when there were three lots to put up when they all lived at home. Anyway now it's a case of bring on the New Year.

My card today is a card made with the Groovi Parchment system for Mr Bs mum. I used a mix of the Butterfly wreath plate, a border plate, the square plate and finally the lettering from the starter kit.

I did some whitework on parts of the lineart and backed the parchment onto a teal card using Pergaglue. I used the gems to hide the glue.  This was backed onto white card and added to a teal card base. I then did another butterfly which I embossed parts of and then cut out. This had gems added to its body and was put on the top of the original embossed butterfly. Hope you like it...Lea x

Birthday cake

Hello everyone

Hope this finds you all well and getting excited for Christmas.  I am getting excited because my youngest child (he's 23!) is coming for a few days. Most of you know we left him behind when we moved home (and towns) and we haven't seen him for two months which is the longest we've not seen him....the longest before was two weeks!

My card today is one of my favourite images from an LOTV coloured art pad. I just love the colours in this image and she is just so cute. The patterned papers are also LOTV. This is layered up on blue and white card. I cut a round aperture in the last one with a Tonic die to frame the image. The butterflies are ones I was given from a very kind friend of my daughters and I like these ones coz they are quite small so don't overpower the card. The wording is from a Docrafts family set of stamps...I use this set an awful lot. I finished with rather a lot of coordinating gems...I'm not sure if it is overkill to be honest.

Right everyone I'm off now. I'm not sure if I will be round the rest of the week as I still have loads to do. If I'm not I'd like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a wonderful New a Year. Thank you so much for your support and lovely comments this year. I am truly grateful for your visits...catch up again soon....Lea x

With love at Christmas!

Good evening/morning everyone

I hope this finds you all well and well on your way to completing all your Christmas shopping which I'm not hahaha. I did get some wrapping done today thank goodness...still some shopping to do though. I've got three more birthday cards to make but now the panic over being behind with Christmas cards is over I've calmed down a bit. I figure there's always a card shop (hush thy mouth Lea Brawn!!!) if I get desperate.

My cards today are such simple ones and actually I cursed when I remembered I'd got this TL die in my stash. It cuts out the die cut piece so beautifully and I just used different coloured layers for each card and added gems. These are nice flat cards for posting....Lea x

Poppies!

Hi everybody

Oh my word I am so on a roll at the minute. I have got my mojo back and am spending every spare moment in my craft room. Mr B may regret us buying a house where I can have a dedicated craft room coz I'm in it every hour I can at the mo.  I think after Christmas it will be I do my jobs (mind you I can only manage the light work) in the morning, craft room in the afternoon and do something like my Groovi parchment work downstairs with Mr B in the evening...except of course if the footsie is on!

Today's card is for my MIL from my youngest son. Her birthday is just after Christmas as is Mr Bs - his sisters is the same day as his too (it's a PITA I'm telling you being so near to Christmas). I can't remember where the poppy image came from as I've had it coloured up with my pro marker pens for ages. I've tried to show in the pics that I've decoupaged the poppies in places. I think putting the image on white and black layers really makes it stand out. I used the same image for my SIL 50th birthday last year. I just adore poppies...I don't care if they are seen as weeds...I love them!!! The first part of the sentiment was from a freebie set of stamps that was on a magazine a while back and the Nan was from a Docrafts relatives set of stamps. I finished with black gems, a black dazzler and red ribbon.

I then went on to play about with making some tags using precut tags, inks and stamps.

The first lot were inked with memento inks.  The snowflakes stamp was from another freebie set of stamps.

These cute little animal ones are made using a stamp set I was given from my daughters friend. They come as separate body parts and you can mix and match as you please. I was going to colour them but decided I liked them as they are.

The next lot was just me faffing about with loads of different sets and inking round the edges.

And finally these were just more of the same. I hadn't got ribbon to match any of the tags so used string on them all...again I really like it!

Well that's me done for another night. I'm pleased to say I've still got a couple of other cards to show another day. I told you I'm on a roll....Lea x

White, Gold and Black!

Another quick post everyone.  I am over the moon to say Christmas bits can go away finally. I'm all christmassed out before Christmas! This idea for this card started from some gold waste card where I'd cut some poinsettias out for another card. It was just too nice to throw. The card is made with lots gold, black and white layers onto a white card base. I then cut some more poinsettias out of some smaller pieces of gold card and some black leaves. The wording is from two different stamps..one from Penny Black and one from the first set of stamps I ever bought, the name of which escapes me. I finished with black gems.

After Mr B had opened it I insisted he 'fluff' up the flowers...Lea x

friend

Hi all

Well I'm writing this post with only one eye open...I'm very tired tonight. Christmas is looming ever nearer and I'm starting to panic. I'm just about done with Christmas cards - I'm working on Mr Bs at the moment and you'd think it would be easy but he's a very particular man and doesn't give much away so when I make him cards I always wonder what he really thinks. I know he doesn't like cards made from kits so I've got to use my imagination and as I've done so many Christmas cards I'm nearly imaginationed out!!!

This card was really hard to photograph. It is made using my Groovi plates again. It is for a very dear friend I left behind when I moved. After doing the parchment work I cut an aperture out of a piece of card and layered it on top of the parchment. I finished it with a purple bow, gems and pearls.

Well I'm done and am off to my bed now. Goodnight all...Lea x

Gold and black!

Hiya everyone

Wow I have nearly finished the Christmas cards...two more added to the pile today! I've had to do a bit of internet shopping too to get some Christmas presents - I find it absolutely shattering traipsing round the shops - the knock on effects are horrible usually leaving me in a lot of pain and so fatigued it's untrue (I'm sure those other fibromites out there get where I'm coming from!) so I let my fingers doing the work today.

My card today is made using lots of layers of gold (the gorgeous card in Create and Crafts member kit) mixed with black and using the lovely pad from LOTV - I think the pad is called Winter Woodland. The colours of the papers are absolutely fabulous. The image is also from an LOTV ready coloured art pad - very useful if you need to make some cards quickly. These pads are gorgeous I must admit...I was lucky enough to buy them when the sale at LOTV was going on. Mind you they are well worth the full asking price. I used the SB poinsettia die to make the gorgeous flower and leaves (I love this die in case you haven't noticed!) and I finished by adding different sized pearls.

That's me done for today folks..until tomorrow...Lea x

A Kanban Christmas

 Hi everyone

A very quick post today. It's also quite picture heavy but I thought as these were quick and easy cards I'd show them all at once. They are all made using the Create and Craft members gift of a pad of Kanban toppers and sentiments. They've been a godsend as I've been so far behind with my cards.  I've used up scraps of cards for backing and added a mix of bows, glitter, die cuts, gems and buttons.

I've only got about five cards left to make and then five birthday cards to do too. I'm getting there.. I'd like to say thank you for all your kind comments on my posts. I really love reading them....Lea xxx

In the pink!

Good evening everyone

Well I'm pleased to say I'm on the downward slope...I feel like I've been making Christmas cards for months....oh hang on a minute I have! I must confess I'm all bored out with them now but I've still got just a few more to make.

This card is very, very pink....I didn't mean it to end up that way. I've made two cards with the Groovi system today...you'll have to hang on a few days for the other one though.

I used a mixture of the snowflake plate, the square plate and a border plate. I only embossed the snowflake. I had to go a bit lighter today as I ruined a piece of work yesterday by being heavy handed....I am just a beginner though! I cut a square aperture out of a piece of pink card. I then put the cut out square behind the parchment then secured the other piece of card on top and backed this on some white card. I finished with some silver ribbon and used lots of pretty pink gems on the parchment and card. The final touch was the dazzler in the centre.  All in all a pretty card I think...even though I do say so myself....Lea x

Snowflakes

Hello all

I hope this finds you all well and getting organised for Christmas. I'm looking forward to spending some time with my youngest son who we left behind in Gloucester when we moved. The house is not quite as lively without him...he used to be like a whirlwind when he walked in...in a lovely way! I haven't seen him for two months and it's the longest we've been apart from him...as a matter of fact I think the longest time before was probably two weeks.

My card today is another one made with my Groovi system.  What I love about the system is not just the fact I can get my line art neat (just not possible for me with original parchment work as I can't keep my hand still enough to trace) but the fact I can still use all the other things in my stash to run alongside it.  I used a couple of different plates to trace the parts I wanted to use and embossed some of the stars and the snowflake. It's good that you can mix and max the elements you want from different plates. I started by layering some white card onto the base card. Then I cut a circle out of the centre of the blue card (more of the freebie card...not much left now!). I also used a Tonic die to cut a Trellis circle out of the blue and placed it under my Parchment work. The blue piece was then placed on top using sticky pads. The poinsettia is from an SB die and I think it looks really pretty. I finished with pearls on the parchment, the corners and poinsettia. I will say I was extremely pleased with how this card turned out.

I hope you agree with me...Lea x

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenge http://claritystampchallenge.blogspot.co.uk/2015/12/challenge-34.html

LOTV Christmas

Hello all

Well I'm on a roll at the moment. This time it's an LOTV card with a gorgeous image...I love the art pad it comes from and I'm suprised I've not used more of them - the problem is I'm so involved with trying other things! I love my new Groovi board in case you haven't noticed and I have a couple more cards tucked up my sleeve...I just love the fact I can parchment craft without struggling with the line art because of my tremor. I also love the fact with the Groovi system I can use all the other things I love like die cutting. Anyway the Groovi ones are for another day! Back to this card...

The aqua card is from the free members gift from Create and Craft. I embossed a piece with an SB embossing folder and used that at the bottom with a plain piece of white card at the top. I added a band of pearl across the centre. I also die cut a piece - it is a SB die..the name of which escapes me and I threaded ribbon round it. Again a die I don't use often enough - I'm trying to use more of what I've got in my stash at the moment. I mounted the image onto this using sticky pads. The wording is from a Penny Black stamp that was a freebie on a mag. I finished with a bow, pearls and with a bit of difficulty because of my hand sewed a snowflake charm on.

I worked out today I've still got about 15 cards to make still and some are family ones so got to get a wriggle on. I also have hubby's, MIL, SIL and Grandsons birthday in the week after Christmas....HELP!....Lea x

Nuvo crustal drops

Hi all

Well I've been playing again with inks and SB bauble dies but this time in pink. The first card I also inked the card base. On both cards I then used some Nuvo crystal drops on them. I've had the Nuvo drops for ages, actually since they first came out but have never used them. I'm very impressed with them as they are extremely easy to use.

I tried to shape the second bauble but without much success.  My New Years resolution is to experiment more with inks I've decided...watch this space all...Lea x

Groovi bauble

Hi all. Another post today...what is the world coming to?

These cards are very similar...just the mat and layers different.

I started by mat and layering white with silver/dark silver card. I embossed some of the dark silver with an SB folder. The Parchment work was done on my Groovi plate - I then cut out a bauble with an SB bauble die and cut a circle big enough to take the Parchment work. This was raised onto sticky pads and 'hung' from a diamant√© string.  I stamped the wording with an archival ink pad. The snowflake is from an SB die. This was added to a big bow made from ribbon I bought from The Range. I finished with gems and a dazzler to the snowflake.

I must confess I prefer the darker version of the card...Lea x

Bauble

Hello all
Gosh it's extremely late/early again...the hours have passed me by tonight...I've really had my crafting head on. I've even done something a bit different for me...I've been inking. I need lots more practice but I gave it a go. I'd cut a bauble out with an SB die for a couple of other cards and quite liked the fact I was left with a bauble template. I decided to ink through it onto a piece of white card. When I'd done this I took a little 'Merry Christmas' stamp and used this to stamp through the template too. I stamped the wording alternately on each line so they didn't line up under each other. I then cut out the bauble with the die. The other card i just stamped through the die with the wording. On one card I put sticky pads under the bauble and put it straight onto the card blank. The other I placed onto a piece of white embossed card. I added a bow with a little dazzler to them both which I coloured with pro markers to match the ink and ribbon and finished with a few gems.

The cards do look better in real life....Lea x

Snowflakes

Hi all

Well we are steaming towards Christmas and I'm starting to panic just a little...so much still to do. I've never been so behind before.  I have made another Christmas card today. I've been playing with my Groovi plates again...they are right when they say you just go into the zone..the only thing is it's a bit slower going than just making a card.

I used a mixture of the snowflake plates, a border plate and the square plates. I used the corner punch to secure it to the blue card with a tiny spot under where the gems are. The gems look a bit random but they are in the middle of snowflakes. I backed this onto a silver card and then a white card. The blue and silver card were from the members gifts from Create and Craft and I must admitting they have been fabulous to work with. I'm nearly out of it...very disappointing!

I'm off now...I'll catch you again soon...Lea x

New home

Hi all

Hope this finds you well. I've spent part of my day sorting filing out. When we moved  Mr B decided to change the way we store bills etc (mind you quite a lot are online now) so guess who gets to do that lovely job...yep me! I've now got a ton of shredding to do too now. I've still got loads to do so it's a case of plod through title till it's done. Yaaaaay!

I don't know about you guys but I have loads of kits I bought when I started out. One of these is a Hunkydory one....can't remember what it's called but it's all very black! Well I needed to make a New Home card for a very dear friend who has just moved to a new home and it's a huge move for her as she'd lived in her old house for 32 years! I knew there was new home elements in the kit so in my stash I went (I've made myself a promise that I'm going to work my way through some of the kits in the New Year - maybe it needs to be a new year resolution). The card is very black..I didn't know if it is a bit doom and gloom for a new start but I made it anyway....

It literally is all from the kit..no ribbons, no gems just bits!

I'm now working on a Groovi project. I'm really pleased with how it's going so far so fingers crossed it turns out ok. Right that's me done...till next time, take care...Lea x

Back to Christmas!

Hi all out there in Blogland

Well that's another weekend been and done. I've put the Christmas tree up so it looks like Christmas is starting in the Brawn household. Mr B has still got his decorating head on and has stripped the wall paper in the dining area so it looks like that's the next room being done over (I must admit I'm chuffed with my living room). This supervising lark is very taxing so I'll have to retire to my craft room which incidentally looks like a bomb site at the mo. I will be glad when I can pack Christmas things away as I'm a bit bored of making Christmas cards and can't wait to do something else..the problem is I'm so far behind because of moving that I've still got loads to make!

My photo isn't the best I'm afraid as I bagged my card before I took the pic...I was too lazy to get it back out of the bag. I embossed a piece of cream card with an SB folder. The snowflakes are all SB too...they're some of the first dies I ever bought. I cut these in cream and black card stock and stacked them.  I finished with just the one gem..I thought it was all the card needed.

My second card was made with elements from a Kanban pad I've used before..I backed the topper onto black card which was mat and layered onto a piece of white card which was in my scrap box (this was already embossed with a dotty folder) and then onto black again. I finished with some star embellishments. These were two quite simple cards.

Right off to bed now all. Hope you have a good week...Lea x

Retirement

Hi everyone

I hope you are all keeping safe in this awful weather..I know one of our blogging buddies Janet Barbar is having a tough time - I'm sure like me you are thinking of her and will join me in wishing her the best at this horrible time...I hope things sort for her soon.

My card today is a retirement card. I've made similar ones this style before. This was a commission and the buyer knew what she wanted as she'd seen one on my blog. It makes it so much easier when people know what they want to order.

The wording was PC generated. I used a piercing ruler on a piece of white card for the background. The lilac sheet is from an LOTV pad. I used an SB die for the lattice work. I cut and inked through a SB labels 20 die and the flowers are from a Tattered Lace die. I finished with a purple bow, gems and swirls.

Well that's me done..stay safe everyone...Lea x

A mish mash!

Hi all

Here's another Christmas card from me. The background is a mixture of a Tattered Lace embossing folder and LOTV paper. The large die cut is a Tonic one and the holly die cuts are from SB - talk about a mish mash of manufacturers but it goes to show that they all go together very nicely!  I've added some pearl bling and lovely flowers and finished with green and tartan ribbon and a few gems. I added a little stickles to the wings and fur on my image.

Hope you all have a fabulous crafty weekend....take care...Lea x

In the Groove!

Hiya all out there in Blogland

I hope you've had a good few days...this week seems to have flown by! Mr B has been off most of the week and went back to work today. Well this gave me chance to try something new.  I have invested in some Groovi items from Claritystamps - I've been promising myself some for a few weeks now, now I've got some...how excited am I?

Now I know this card isn't perfect.  I did practice getting used to the tools using the tree templates that came with the original kit while I waited for some lovely Christmas and flowery plates to come! Oh and some plates with wording too...shshhh don't tell Mr B I've been spending his money! Anyway I used a few different plates for this card and I suppose I am pretty pleased with it. I backed the parchment onto purple card using a special corner punch and then put this onto a silver mirror card.  This was added to a piece of white card embossed with one of Tattered Laces Christmas folders from last year (it is one I use all the time as I love it) and then added onto purple card again. I flaffed around with different types of ribbon for the bow but got there in the end and finished with some purple gems.  I feel confident enough to move onto the next parchment card now....hopefully I'll have another tomorrow...Lea x

And more from Kanban

Hello everyone

Just a short post from me today. Thank you as usual for the lovely comments made on my blog. I seem to spend half my life looking at brilliant cards on people's blogs. The more I look around the more I seem to find I like.  I actually don't have a favourite type of card either...I just like everything!!!

My two cards are from my good old Kanban pad. My stash of Christmas cards is slowly building although I still feel I'm way behind. The glitter on the second card looks better in real life. I won't go into them too much. Really they are made with matting and layering onto my base card and adding a few bits and bobs from my stash.

I was a lucky girl today. I won a set of dies on Sue Wilsons blog. To say I was excited is an understatement. She is my all time favourite crafter (sorry you guys lol) so I'm chuffed.

Right that's me done and ready for my bed now. Catch you next time..sleep well...Lea x
