A simple card!

Hi all out there in Blogland

I hope this finds you all well. Well the weather has held today and it's been lovely to have both my patio doors thrown wide open. I love it when you feel like the outside is in. Things have more or less settled in the Brawn household. Tomorrow we will draw the line under our sons rented home and hand the keys back.

My card today is just a simple one. It's for my Dad, made for my son to give him. My Dad loves owls so anything I find I tend to hold onto with the intention of giving it to him. The owl actually came from a Hunkdory kit. I think I forgot to tell you that the lady who was so generous a few months ago, who gave me lots of craft stuff - well she only gave me a ton of stuff again when I went up for my daughters wedding. I can not thank Diane enough because she is just so generous. Anyway this little owl was in a kit she gave to me. I used an embossing folder to emboss a sheet of paper and backed it onto a light coloured card. I then just added the little sentiment disc which I thought would amuse my Dad greatly. It will also amuse my son who really does think my Dad's a hoot (he is!).

I then just finished with a few gems. Well that's me for today. Until next time, take care....Lea x

Would you believe it!!!

Hello all
I hope this finds you well. I haven't really mentioned what has been going on in our life other than the wedding which would you believe was a week ago already. As followers of my blog will remember nearly six months ago our son moved out into his own rented place. You can see where this is going I bet....unfortunately for him his housemate became very ill in April so was hospitalised. This left Alf through absolutely no fault of his own struggling to pay his bills so me and Mr B have had to help support him. Well it has been decided that the best thing all round for the present time is that he comes home. I wonder how many of you can remember what happened to his room when he left...yep it became my craft room. Well good mummy that I am I have relinquished hold of it and have moved out (only out of the craft room - Mr Bs not that lucky).

What might you wonder am I going to do? To start with I was resigned to going back to crafting on my lap although I must admit I did wonder how I was going to manage after being able to spread myself out. Then on Thursday I had a brainwave....I must admit I didn't think Mr B would go for it. We now have one dining room table and four chairs stored and I now have my craft table along with lots of my bits in its place downstairs. I still have a wardrobe full of stuff upstairs but who cares!!! I can live with that.

It is quite lucky that my desk can go in a straight line like it was upstairs or it can be turned L shaped. It fits perfectly in the space. Phew!

Right I am off to play on it now....I'll be back soon...Lea x

Ps I've changes the pics as the previous ones were taken on my phone - I've also sneaked lots more things downstairs, like the unit with coloured drawers which I think Mr B thought/hoped would stay upstairs. Sshhsh don't say a word....x

Last one!

Hi all out there in Blogland

I hope this finds you all well. I have just done a mega round of blog hopping. If I've missed you I am so sorry. I have seen some amazing work. I have been crafting for nearly two and a half years and I can't believe I was oblivious before to all the wonderful crafting people out there.

Anyway here it is...the last wedding card for now!

Again I have used Tonic dies. I really love this Mr and Mrs die. The paper is from LOTV and is backed onto some purple card which came in a pack from Hobbycraft. I have used the paper piercing on this card. I really love the look of it on cards and tend to use it a lot on 'special' cards. I added ribbon, flowers and gems. The white part of the flower is from a SB die - I added a ready made flower to the centre.

Thank you so much for visiting. Well I'm off now. Time for bed....Lea x

And another!

Hello everyone

Sorry, sorry, sorry haha but here is another wedding card for you. Very different to the other might I add.

I'm afraid the picture quality is not very good on this one. I have no idea why. The papers are from LOTV. Again I used my Tonic dies to do the heart. These were actually the more recent ones - they have a bit of a decalled edge, still very pretty. To be honest by the time I'd finished my cards I was well and truly purpled out. The names were PC generated. The ribbon is one I bought from The Range. I added lace and lots of bling. Annie commented on my last post that she liked the way I'd coloured the swirls but they actually were already coloured like that with the colour going from clear to lilac to purple - the hearts are a separate gem. The swirls were from Hobbycraft and cheap at £1 for something I'll probably get three cards out of. A charm finished this one off. One more to go for you although I did make a Mr B an anniversary card earlier. Our anniversary isn't until a week on Friday so you won't see it yet. All I'll say is it doesn't have any purple on it!!!

Right I'm off. I'll see you tomorrow...Lea x

Surprise, surprise it's a Wedding Card!

Hi everyone

Thank you so much for the lovely comments on my wedding day blog. I have passed your kind comments about Mr Bs cake to him and he is feeling rather chuffed. They are well deserved as the cake took weeks and weeks to make as the flowers were completely hand made petal by petal as were the leaves. It was a bit manic at the end as the top layer was a sponge and the middle a chocolate sponge so it all had to be last minute. But he got there in the end.

Well now to my card. I have three to blog but I will only do one at a time as I need to eek it out as life is very busy at the moment. Due to unforeseen circumstances I am losing my craft room as my son needs to return home. So I am having to move things about again along with guiding him with his packing. Unfortunately due to the fibro I have to be extremely careful I don't overdo it as it can put me into a flare up. He should be home by the weekend.

The heart die cuts are from a Tonic die. The backing paper is a paper I've had for ages. I added an embossed top to the paper and used some ricrac ribbon as an extra feature. The butterflies are from an SB die. I die cut a solid butterfly and added a lacy one on top. Lots of flowers and leaves from Tattered Lace finished the card off along with loads and loads of bling.

I was pleased with this card. It was actually the third of the the three cards I made!

Well that's me for today. Thanks for stopping by...Lea x

Daughters Wedding Cake

Hi all

Well the title says it all - I've been AWOL for a few days as I have been at a very special wedding - my beautiful daughters. The whole family have had a brilliant time and it was lovely to spend time with the people that really matter to us. I am going to bore you with a few photos, I hope you all don't mind too much.

The bride and groom

My three wonderful kids

Vikki with her Dad who you know as Mr B

The four of us! You are all honoured seeing this as I despise having my photo taken.

And lastly this fantastic cake which Vikkis Dad Mr B made. I decided the cards I've made should stay out of the limelight today as this post is seriously deserving of having Mr Bs talents showcased for a change.

Thank you for taking the time out to share in my day. I'll be back with the first of the cards tomorrow. Until then....Lea x

Another Wedding card

Good afternoon all

Well the good weather continues here - I hope it's the same where you are. Thanks to everyone for your very kind comments on my blog. I didn't think I'd have anything for a few days as I am currently in wedding card mode. Mr B however assures me the recipient of the card today is unlikely to see this card so I have permission to blog it!!

The papers are from Docrafts Parisienne Blue Capsule pack. I love the papers so much that I actually got off my behind to check which ones they are for you. I used a plain cream paper for all the backing and the die cuts. The cake is from Tattered Lace. The ribbon is from a pack that matches the paper pack. I used the PC for the sentiment. I used lots of pearls to finish off. I do think it looks better in the flesh so to speak.  Well that's it from me. I'll be round to visit your blogs later. Until then...Lea x

21st Card

Good morning everyone

I hope this finds you well. It's been a few days since I've blogged. I've been working on cards that I can't show at the moment. I'll let you in on them later on. I do however have a commissioned card to show you. I'm pretty sure that the birthday will have been and gone as it's been a few weeks since it was ordered.

I started by piercing around some white card with my piercing ruler. I added two different backing papers seperated by ribbon and lace. The sentiment was PC generated and backed with an SB die cut. I finished with flowers, a bow, a key charm and some gems.

A very pretty card all in all. I quite enjoyed making this card as it follows a tried and tested recipe, so much so I've just had another order for one!

Well I'm off now. Catch you later....Lea x

Saturday, 7 June 2014

Hello everyone out there in Blogland

I hope this finds you well. We've got some very strange weather at the moment. It thundered for a long while in the early hours, it rained and now it is beautiful and Mr B assures me it is hot (I haven't ventured out today). I must admit the sky is a gorgeous blue colour.

Anyway to my card. Well guess is yet another male card. Oh woe is me lol. It's not been too bad. Last week I ordered a cricketer and a footballer stamp from LOTV (who incidentally had it sent out very promptly - a very impressive service) so I had a bit of a back up plan this time.

As I said the image was a stamp from LOTV. I coloured it with my Promarkers and used a yellow distress ink round the edge. I then used one of my favourite SB dies to cut it out. I backed the card base with a yellow and white striped paper. I then used the SB shape to cut out an aperture in the blue coordinations card. I used sticky pads to raise this onto the striped paper. The image was then placed flat into the aperture. You can't see it very well but you can see the striped paper through the loops of the die cut. It looks better in the flesh! I stamped two sentiments on to striped paper, inking them with the distress ink. I made one into a flag with a cocktail stick for the pole - I stuck a small bead on the end of the stick and one I stuck on with sticky pads. I finished with some yellow gems. Phew! I think that's all.

Anyway before I go I have to tell you about two 'wants' I've had on my list for ages. I've been needing and wanting a guillotine as my cutter is awful to use (It squeaks loudly with every movement and doesn't cut straight)  so I've treated myself and I've also wanted a large A3 glass cutting mat. Well what can I say - the guillotine is fab and using my distress inks on the glass cutting mat was so easy. I normally use a blender mat but I found my new mat much easier to use the blender on. To say I'm chuffed is an understatement!!!

Anyway I must get on now. The day has flown today and I've done nothing but this blog. Have fun all...Lea x

Hi everyone

Thank you so much to all those that have visited and left their very kind comments on my blog. It really is much appreciated. I do try to get round everyone but do give me a shout if I'm missing you out! Blog hopping and looking on Pinterest is one of my favourite past times. I've said it before and I will say it again I can't believe how talented people are - some of the cards are absolutely amazing. The only problem I have is that I have a tendency to fall asleep over my PC (an unfortunate side effect of the meds I take). It's either I struggle to hit the buttons on the PC because of my tremor or I have a nap half way through - quite funny really.

Anyway to my card for today. It is another Fathers Day card. This time for my FIL.

I used some backing papers from the paper pack I was given ages ago. I've nearly finished the pack yet it isn't one I would have chosen to buy myself. Yet I love it! I stamped 'Dad' on to a bought tag then I stamped the same onto the same paper I'd used at the bottom of the card. It took me an age to cut this out and I had to get help with the inner parts of the word. I then stuck this onto the tag just slightly offsetting it with the stamped word. I stamped 'with love' directly onto the bottom paper which was very brave of me as I had stuck it all together by this time - fortunately it stamped ok (I had a back up plan if not!!!). Anyway I was quite happy with the finished result - I've still got two more male cards to make (sighs loudly!)

Right I'm off to craft while I'm still awake. Hope to pop round and see everyone later. Take care...Lea x

Wedding Card

Good morning all

I hope this finds you all well. It is chucking it down with rain here. How the weather keeps changing. Thank goodness I have no grass to cut as the weather seems to be just right for everyone else's grass around me. It seems to be growing very rapidly.

My card today is a commissioned wedding card. I know the wedding hasn't taken place yet but am assured that the recipients will not see it.

The backing papers are all from LOTV - I do love their paper packs. These have been machine sewn onto purple card. I embossed some white and purple card with a Couture Creation folder and then used a Tonic heart die to cut the hearts out. The sentiment was PC generated. I added ribbon, ricrac ribbon, pearls and gems to match the colours.

Well that's all from me. Thank you for stopping by...Lea x

Anniversary Card

Good morning all

Just a quick post today from me. This card was an easy make - I bought a lovely 'kit' from Craftwork cards which consists of a gorgeous paper pack with coordinating toppers and die cut flowers and with 50 white A6 cards and envelopes. It is so gorgeous that you only need to add a few bits from your stash to make a pretty card.

I used a craft card base for this card. I used two of the papers to back it. I'd already got a white frame cut out from another project so added that, leaving a little of the paper exposed on the outside. The die cut the topper is sitting on is from a Tattered Lace die - I removed the cupcake from it. I finished it with a faux pearl heart, pearls and a bow.

Well I hope you all have a great day. I catch you again soon....Lea x
