Get Well Soon

Hi all out their in Blogland

Well I've had a couple of days off. I've been a bit off to be honest. The lovely fibro flare paid me a visit and unfortunately knocked me for six. Oh I do wish it would stop visiting me quite so often as it has been lately. Anyway I pulled myself together a bit today because I needed to make a card that my lovely son asked for. A very dear friend of his has had a large operation today so he asked me to make a card for her. it was the least I could do. It's been quite amusing making this card (it's a good job I can laugh at myself) as my tremor has been playing me up something rotten. I decided to have a go at making a little butterfly out of parchment. Silly me doing something that needs a steady hand. It took me a while but I got there.

The image is from some really lovely papers I got free from Making Cards magazine. The magazine was a bargain anyway as it had Parchment Craft magazine with it. Anyway I did lots of layers of white and purple and on the final layer added some peach ribbon and a bow. I stamped the sentiment and a little flower - I used Promarkers to colour this - which I made into a little tag. I knew I wanted to add little butterfly but wasn't sure where. In the end I decided to put it on top of the bow. I added little gems, a little Stickles on the purple flowers and that was it. I didn't want the card to be over the top and I think I succeeded in keeping it pretty but simple.

Well I'm off now, hope to see you soon....Lea x

Morning everyone

Well it's a lovely bright morning here. Before I tell you about today's card I just want to thank everyone for your very kind comments about my cards.  I didn't get to visit everyone's blogs yesterday as I wasn't particularly in a good place but I will be paying a visit today. The fibro was playing me up good and proper and when it's bad I even struggle with my PC and I didn't manage to do any crafting until late yesterday evening when I was completely hyper on my meds. This card is what I came up with. I wanted to keep it very simple. I haven't put a sentiment on yet as I made it just for fun and thought I could do that at another time! I used an embossing folder for the background. It was the one that came with my ebosser -  I think it is a Theresa Collins one. I backed this onto a navy coloured card. I added a ribbon across the card. The flowers are from two SB dies - I added a brad to the middle flower and a little pearl embellishment to the others. I was going to add extra pearls to the bottom and top but stopped myself. I thought they would detract from the flowers.

Well that's me done for today. I'm off to do some blog hopping now. See you there...Lea x

Very pink!

Hi all out there in Blogland

Well before I get into the nitty gritty of my blog I just have to tell you I am hugely excited to say I now have a new Top Three Badge from Whoopsie Daisy. I am very honoured to have been given a Top Three award. As you all know I am so in awe at what other people make - well this tells me I'm on the right track with what I'm doing. So many thanks to whoever did the choosing - I am very chuffed.

Well how quick did the Bank holiday weekend go?  I just don't know where this year is going either.  I guess that what our parents used to say when we were young is true - about time going so quick when you're older. Anyway it's been a nice weekend. Mr B has cleaned the car today so that is now sparkling clean - mind you it did rain just as he finished. Actually it thunder stormed. I am such a scaredy cat when it storms :( I just shut the curtains and hid.

I spent a lot of the weekend watching C&C featuring Sue Wilson's new sets of dies. Lately Ive been feeling very die -ed out on C&C but her dies are absolutely amazing. Unfortunately I had no spare money to buy any at this stage but they have risen right to the top of my want/need list. I will just have to save up all my spare pennies over the next few weeks. Then the problem will be what to choose. I had a nice (short) email from Sue Wilson. If you ever read her blog you will know how important she always says her followers are to her (as are mine to me :)) she put that she'd noticed that a few people had stopped commenting like they used to and wondered if there was a problem. Well I stopped commenting a few months ago because there are always hundreds of comments on her blog I thought mine would not be noticed amongst the rest. Well I found out yesterday they are noticed. She must read every comment as she said she had read my comment about this - I happen to know my comment was 364th in the list!!! So there you go....

Well to my card. I am going to put my hands over my ears while you get the screaming at me out of your system. Yes it is a Christmas card - I thought I'd draw you in with my title just saying about it being pink - well as I had the Christmas box out I thought it was rude not to do another Christmas card. The image I've used is from a Penny Black stamp. Now last Christmas every time I saw this little snowman on a card I wanted it. I promised myself I would get it for this year....well there was no need! In my box of crafty stash that was given to me he was there. As you can imagine I was extremely chuffed. Anyway I stamped him six times last night and coloured him twice there and then - once in pink, once in a jade colour. Anyway this one became a card for my little Granddaughter....

I used a Crafters Companion embossing folder to emboss the pale pink card and backed it onto dark pink. I love this embossing folder - it has a dotty pattern on the top then the bottom is snowflakes. I can imagine you can use it in so many different colour ways and each card will look different.  The ribbon across the centre is a long strip of card folded so it looked ruffled. I sewed on the outside of the card, along the ruffles and on the flag with the sentiment on. The sentiment is stamped using two different stamps. The Granddaughter comes from a fab set I have that has all the different relatives in and the other part was a freebie. I used SB dies for the snowflakes, the Christmas trees and to cut out the layers for my snowman. I finished with lace, a bow made with bakers twine (I made a long crochet chain then tied it into the bow) and a few gems.

Anyway I hope you like the card. I know my Granddaughter will when she eventually gets it later in the year. Thank you so much for popping by. I enjoy reading your comments. I hope you'll come back soon....Lea x

Christmas card no1

Good evening bloggers

I hope you're having a great Easter break. I must confess to not having done very much. Mr B and I were going to do so much but I always feel guilty because it's ok for me - I am at home all day, every day whereas Mr B just gets his holiday weeks and bank holidays. I think he should spend them chilling and not having to do jobs he can't get done whilst working. But unfortunately because of the fibro I can't do the jobs like painting and full on gardening. I can only potter about.

Well to my card. I actually feel quite guilty doing a Christmas card at Easter but I'd just got it in my head that's what I wanted to do. This card is made by using papers that again came from the ones I was given. Oh and strangely enough the ready coloured topper was in the bag of goodies too. The topper is 'Winter fairy' by Wee stamps. It is a pack from the Hobby House. I have quite a few of these the same so it will be interesting to see how different I can make them because you know me - I couldn't possibly do a card the same as another! I used an SB die to back the topper. The snowflakes are also SB and from two different sets. They are cut out from a red and green glitter card. I then added ribbon, bakers twine, lace and gems to finish off.

Well I hope you enjoy the rest of the Easter break. I'm off to do some more crafting. Until next time...Lea x

Pretty in pink

RGood evening everyone

Well the weather has held and it's been a lovely few days weather wise. It makes you feel so much chirpier. It's so lovely to be able to see the washing blowing on the line instead of being on my clothes horse (I don't possess a tumble drier).

Well I've been blog hopping and am still amazed at the fantastic work that is on the blogs. Until I started crafting I'd no idea it was such a lucrative business. We've had a new shop called The Range open up here. It has quite a large crafting section - I was very surprised! It has a huge amount of Tonic products. On C&C quite often people struggle to buy the larger than A3 glass cutting mat. Well they had loads and at a reasonable price. Price wise I wouldn't say they are any cheaper than Hobbycraft where I usually go but I did pick up a few bits at a good price like sticky pads and dries clear glue. The beauty of it is, is that it is two minutes in the car from my house :) whereas Hobbycraft is across town. Great if there's something I need in a hurry. I'd also been keeping an eye open for a Guest Book for when my daughter gets married and I was intending to try to do one from scratch as I felt they were quite expensive.  Well I bought a white Guest Book with silver swirls and butterflies on for £2.99. I intend to dress it up with purple bling and flowers and Mr B will make me a nice purple box for it. So it was a successful trip all in all although I did only do half the store as I was very tired and in pain at this stage BUT it just means that I can go back for the other half next week.

My card today isn't for anyone in particular. I coloured the image the other evening and I didn't want to just stick her in the pot with the rest. I did a lot of faffing until I decided what I wanted. I used some spotty paper that has a bit of a sparkle on actually but you can't see it in the photo. I'd already got the die cut from where I'd made a wedding card before. This is actually the left over from then. The die was a Tattered Lace one. I backed it onto some pink paper. The image is a stamp from the Angelica and Friends range. I added my ribbon across the corners just for a bit of variety and added the matching bow. I punched some tiny flowers out and added some bling to the card.

Well that's all from me. Thanks for dropping by.....Lea x

Springs here!

Good afternoon fellow bloggers

I hope this finds you well and enjoying some sunshine. Fortunately we do have some here in Gloucester which just makes you feel so much better. Thank you for your very kind comments on my blog posts. I've actually been managing to keep up with it pretty well. My card today definitely makes me feel quite spring like. I just love the Spring when all the flowers and trees are starting to show themselves. Unfortunately Mr B doesn't share my enthusiasm when I'm sitting in the car pointing out all the lovely flowers and making him look at the trees with their blossom and new leaves. Heyho can't please them all :)

Anyway back to my card. It has a whoopsie daisy image on it. I just adore these digi stamps. She has been coloured with my pro marker pens. The bottom of the card base has been backed with paper from LOTV.  The top was just plain white card on which I used my SB Borderbilities. I followed the line of this with pearl on a string. Unfortunately it ended up where you can't see much of it. The sparkle on it comes from making little dots with Stickles. I used JustRite stamps to make the flowers - I then used matching SB dies to cut them out and layered them up. The leaves are from Tattered Lace. I finished with a double bow and pearls.

I hope you like her as much as I do. Thanks for popping by. Until next time....Lea x

Gorjuss Granddaughter

Good evening all
I hope you're enjoying the weekend. I'm afraid I didn't start out very productive in any way earlier but I'm now wide awake and's now bedtime!!! Oh well...

My card today has another Gorjuss image on it. I do love Gorjiss, it really is one of my favourites. I just went where the mood took me again today but in my head I had my granddaughter in mind. She will be five in May. When I had more or less got all the elements ready I nearly changed my mind about giving it to Sophie because I felt it was too 'dark'. I then realised I'd got some letters I could use and thought maybe if her name was on the card it would then be suitable for a young girl as well.

I used papers from the Gorjuss collection and backed them onto a grey coordinations card. I then used my sewing machine on these layers. It was a pain because for some reason my thread kept snapping. I couldn't understand why to start with because the machine was threaded correctly. Then I looked at the thread and realised it was actually very old thread, VERY old thread. I'd taken it out of my sewing basket which I have had since I was 11 years old. I think the thread is about 40 years old and I am not exaggerating!!!! Anyway it explained why it probably kept snapping. After I'd finished my mat and layering I added ribbon and lace through the centre.

used an SB die (captivating squares) to back the image. Then I mounted it on pads to raise it slightly. I then made a flower using the SB Blossom Five die. I'm not sure about the flower - I may change it yet. I added my gorgeous granddaughters name, a bow and some buttons to finish! I have put a little crystal stickles on her socks and the flower. I'm ok with the socks but I think that is what I don't like about the flower.

Well that's me done. Thanks for popping along and for your very kind comments. I do try to pop round everyone. I apologise if I've been missing anyone. Enjoy the rest of the weekend....Lea x

Hi fellow bloggers

Well what a gorgeous day it is here. The washing is out and the ironing has been done - as you all know it's something I hate with a passion lol. I'd like to say thank you to those people who have commented on my cards lately. You are very kind and it's much appreciated.

Well this card has been waiting to be blogged for a few weeks. I've had to wait for the birthday girl to open it - she was on strict instructions not to open it until the day. I made it for my dear friend Christine who lives in the USA. We have recently become friends both through the fact we both have fibromyalgia and also the fact she is also a crafter too. She was the lady that kindly made me rose buds and posted them to me even though it was in the early days of our friendship. Anyway to my card I used many Gorjuss elements on it. This was the card on which I first attempted sewing with my new machine. Don't look too closely at the stitching lol. Anyway the butterfly, swirls and flowers were made using SB dies. I stamped the sentiment in a matching colour and added ribbon, pearls and lace to finish.

I hope you like it. Until next time.....Lea x

The same shoe but different!

Hello to all you crafty bloggers out there and I'm starting to realise just how many crafty bloggers there are.

Not only are there loads of you I'm just gobsmacked at how talented everyone is. I think what really has hit home over the last few days is how different each and everyone is. I've joined a group on FB called Crafty Bloggers network and the diversity of the styles of cards is amazing. I'm actually quite good at recognising different peoples cards by the style they do. I don't know if I have a style or not. This probably sounds daft but  I'd be interested to know if people think I do. On my card today I've used the exact same stamp as I did on yesterday's card but they are just so different but I suppose if I think about both cards they are in keeping with what I make. I hope I'm making sense lol.

Anyway here's my card for today. This time I had coloured this stamped image months ago and just hadn't got round to using it. Again it had been layered just to give it a bit of dimension.

On the first white layer I used my piercing ruler to do the holes, then I added a black embossed mat to it. The second layer of white I used my scoring board and tool just to put in a border. I found a subtle red patterned paper and backed it onto black and then onto the white. I raised this layer slightly on sticky pads just to give it a lift. As I said the shoe had already been stamped and coloured already. I was undecided about what else the card needed so I had all my flowers and coordinating ribbon out ready to dress it up a bit and I just stopped. I just felt all it needed was a few gems so I sought the opinion of Mr B who agreed that I should just leave it alone. So there you are, unusually for me, not a ribbon in sight! Thanks for dropping by and for all the lovely comments. I'm off to have a quick blog hop before I go off to my bed. Until next time....Lea x

Wednesday, 9 April 2014

Well everyone I am so on a roll here. Nothing much else is getting done but I've made cards. To be very honest now Alf has left home the house stays so much neater. The bath has never been so clean for so long. The washing pile has diminished substantionally - it's great.

Anyway to my card. Again I've used a paper from a pad I was given - it's downstairs or else I'd check what it's called lol. The paper caught my eye because it had lovely glittery shoes and hats on it. That inspired me to get out some shoe stamps I'd got in my stash to play with. I stamped the shoe twice and heat embossed what was going to be the top layer. I coloured them with my pro markers. I then cut one of them out which was a bit of a pain but it was worth it. I also stamped my sentiment. I put sticky pads on the top layer and put it on the top of the other shoe. This was then backed onto pink card.

I mat and layered the shoe paper onto pink card that I had run through an embossing folder - just to give it a bit of umph. This went on top of a coordinating paper from the same pad as the shoes paper. I placed a band across the width to fill the void which I felt was too plain and made a paper bow for the centre. I finished with the usual gems.

I'm already planning to do something similar to this card in a different colour way.

Thank you to all the people who have been commenting on my blog. Thank you for your kind words. I have to say only one of you spotted the deliberate mistake I made when writing yesterday's blog. I won't tell you what it was....someone did spot it lol. Until next time everyone....Lea x

Micro Beads

Good evening every one
Well that's another day done and dusted. I had my hair cut today and I needed to book my next two appointments because I needed to make sure I had an appointment near to when my daughter gets married - I don't think I've mentioned that after thirteen years with her other half she has decided to tie the knot. Anyway back to the point I was trying to make - I was booking appointments in May and June. Where is this year going already?

Right to my card today. I used a lovely flower paper again from one of the paper packs Diane gave me. I think you'll be seeing a lot of them. Well today I decided to use micro beads on it. I had a very frustrating time trying to find my large adhesive sheets. I had to improvise and use some small sheets instead. I still haven't found them even after looking in every nook and cranny of my craft room. Well I covered the sheet with the sticky sheet and poured lovely micro beads all over making sure they were pushed on well. I just love running my fingers all through the micro beads (simple

stamped the sentiment and used an SB die to cut it out, I inked through the die and then threaded ribbon through in a weave like pattern. I also die cut the word 'niece' out. SB again! I then added ribbon, lace, pearls and gems. I will say the colour looks better in real life. Right I'm off again, until the next time....Lea x

Patchwork and sewing!

Hi all in Blogland.
I hope this finds you well. I'm afraid I've been having a bit of a play with some of my posts from the last few days trying to make the photos look a little more reasonable, with some ok results and some 'oh dear I'd better revert back to the original posts'. I think I'm there with my photos now. I've managed to suss out how to use an app that will hopefully make my photos more presentable.

Anyway to my card for today. It started with a bit of inspiration from a card in a magazine. I meant to more or less do the exact same thing (except my paper would look slightly different because I was using a different embossing folder) but as usual my card didn't turn out quite as planned! Anyway I took three 6 x 6 papers in different colours and ran them through an embossing folder. I then cut them into squares with sides of 1.5 inches. I stuck them all in a pattern onto a piece of white card. I'd  advise laying it out first to get the look you want before you start sticking. I then zig zag stitched along each line to give it a patchwork feel and made a frame to hide all the messy edges. I then mat and layered this onto blue card then onto a piece of white card that I had gone round with my piercing ruler on.

I cut out some flowers using SB dies and layered them up. As is usual for me I finished with a sentiment, some ribbon and gems.

I hope you like it. Until next time....Lea x

I'm entering the following challenge:

Nephew card

Good evening everyone in Blogland
Well anyone who knows me will know how hard I find it to make male cards. Well I can't believe it but this one just flew from the end of my fingers.
I was extremely lucky to be given an awful lot of crafty goodies. I was so grateful to the lady Diane. She'd stopped card making and makes wonderful cakes now. Well in amongst the packs of papers are some wonderful male type papers. The only problem now is what do I choose. I changed this paper by inking through a mask from Inkydoodles and inking round the edges. I then put the paper with the mask through my ebosser.  I stamped nephew in the same ink and backed all of it with a dark coloured card.

I made a strip with the paper and wrapped bakers twine round it in a criss cross pattern. Unusual for me. I don't know what made me do that. Obviously a moment of inspiration. Anyway I finished with a few gems and one male card in an hour!!!
Obviously I need to stop over thinking things. One happy crafter over and out...Lea x

Birthday card

Well miracles do happen....three cards in three days! People that know me well know that as well as the fibro I also have a dystonic tremor in my right hand. Now being right handed this makes life a little tricky. Eating yogurt, rice or pasta causes me a few problems - my friends and family will vouch for me because it's caused a few laughs when out in company - but the thing that I do find frustrating is that it does slow the rate I produce cards. I really would like to get more cards onto my Folksy shop (link is on my blog). This card was really tricky because it involved lots of fiddlely folding. I am very pleased with it as it is so different for me. I'm also trying something new with my photos so I'm not sure what they're going to be like. Here goes....

Again the papers were from a paper pack given to me. The pack is called Reflections - sorry that's all I can find. I cut two Stately Circles with my SB dies and this was concertinaed and joined together. In the middle I put a HUGE button with a ribbon bow. This was backed onto a die shape from the SB Captivating Squares. Please note I'm being really good and naming my dies today!

I cut a flower using SB Bitty Blossoms which I waited ages to buy as I felt it was very expensive but it has become one of my faves. I stamped a niece sentiment and backed it onto co-ordinating card and finished with ribbon. I have started making lots more effort with the insides of my cards now too. After doing an awful lot of blog hopping lately I've realised you all put me to shame.

My final word today is to do with the visiting of blogs I've been doing. I've visited loads of new ones I'd not been to before. You guys out here in Blogland are truly inspiring. I'm absolutely gob smacked at some of the creations I've seen. Absolutely amazing everyone. Thank you to the people that follow me and people that comment on my posts. I'm very grateful you've given me some of your precious time.

Until next time everyone....Lea x

Thank you card

Hi everyone
I hope you are well this morning. I've started my day very lazily but hopefully I can get a grip and get into my craft room.

Today's card is a thank you card I made for the lady who gave me all her lovely stash. I've been waiting for confirmation that she's received it. It was originally meant to be orange and use these elements....

This is my card...

Mmmm not sure what happened there!!! I actually just wasn't happy with what I'd laid out originally. I used SB dies on this card. I used the papers to make my bow and added lace, pearls and gems to finish. Until next time all...Lea x

Flowers galore!

Good morning all
Two days on the trot - how about that? Unfortunately today finds me in admidst a massive flare of the fibromyalgia. I don't like to complain. Most of the time I can be upbeat but unfortunately I feel like I must've been in a boxing match while I wasn't looking so am not a happy chappy today!!! But that is by the by, let's look at my card. Now this is something completely different for me. As the title suggests we have flowers today. I started by stamping flowers on patterned papers and embossing in white. I did this with a vaque plan in my head. I then made a pot  to put my flowers in. I made an easel card base and mat and layered all the parts that were visible and made myself a stopper. I used my sewing machine on the panels - I think this will probably be a signature thing on future cards when I can as I love to see stitching on cards. Anyway I won't explain anymore as I think the pictures will speak for themselves.

As I said very different for me and I was extremely pleased with myself. I showed it to Mr B and nearly  him when he said "it's simple". Nooo it took me hours. He did retract it when he saw all the different elements.

Anyway I'm off. Hopefully I'll get something crafty done today as I was too poorly yesterday. Best wishes...Lea xxx

Ps. Please excuse my photography lately. My pics have not been coming out very well lately. I don't know whether it's because I've been writing my blog on the Blogger app. Some pics I want smaller are bigger and visa versa.
