Oh so late!

Good evening everyone out there in Blogland,

I hope this finds you well and that you are having a good weekend. I have had a very nice day today. My Mother and Father-in-Law came to visit which was lovely as we hadn't seen them for a while. We decided to take them out for lunch and after waiting for about an hour and a half for our food we decided to leave and go elsewhere. We ended up feeding them with a KFC! Not quite the lovely meal that we were all looking forward to!!! However we all found it pretty amusing and it didn't detract from the lovely day.

What a great week it is for me this week - it's the school half term holidays. Yippee! I have been planning how to get the jobs needing doing as early in the week as possible and and then hopefully I can spend the rest of the week crafting. I can not believe it is then only seven weeks until the summer holidays. I know I shouldn't wish my life away but if you work in school you always do.

I ummmed and ahhhhed about which card to show you today. As some of you will know I have been making cards from a kit called Camden Town by Hunkydory. Since I received it I have made six cards from it but I almost feel like I am cheating. In the end I have decided to show one of the cards I've made from the kit and one I've made using an image I've had kicking about which I coloured a few weeks ago when I was ill.

This image is the first one I had ever coloured completely including the sky in the background. The background paper was made using scraps of different coloured papers - I just added some yellow ribbon to hide the joins. I am a bit of a newbie using the flowers I've used so I had to play around a bit to get them right - then they didn't end up how I decided! I am pretty pleased with it though. The card is for a friends birthday. She has a huge garden and loves robins. I can quite safely put it on my blog even though her birthday isn't until July as she is completely computer illiterate and is unlikely to find it!

As you can see from this card I have used lots of embellishments from the kit. I backed the background card on to gold mirror card. I twisted some bakers twine around it and added some screw brads to each corner  and the rest I just added to build the picture. I actually really quite like the card.

Well I think I have probably rabbited on for long enough. Time for my bed I think. Have a fab week....Lea x

 Hi everyone

Well I seemed to have lost four days. It's been four days since I last blogged. I haven't done much card making over the last few days - I've had to duck in and out. I have been doing lots of swotting for my driving test. I have no idea if it is working I'll have to let you know very soon about that!

The card I have for you is one I did a while ago. My topper and sentiment are ones that I had in my stash. I used a cream and blue coloured linen card for the backing. I used a punch to make the band through the middle then added some corners and a few embellishments.

I am off now as I am keeping it short and sweet today. I just wanted to pop my head in and say hello. I hope you all have a good weekend (and Bank holiday Monday for those in the UK). Catch you again soon....Lea

Camden Town

Hello all

Well here I am on my favourite day of the week - no work on Mondays! I have done loads today already...well more than yesterday anyway. I had a driving lesson this morning. It's not too long until my test and the nerves are now kicking in. I just keep thinking I am a grownup and I shouldn't feel like this. Never mind I will persevere and see what happens.

My card today is another I have made using components of Camden Town  by Crafters Companion. I just am so in love with the toppers and the backing papers in it. The card today is a male one which I always find very difficult.

I backed the backing paper onto a gorgeous brown colour mirror card just to give it a lift. In with the kit you get some postage shaped card blanks. I chose to halve one of these to add to my card. I added an image and sentiment along with some bakers twine and a fab bronze coloured button threaded through with the bakers twine. A couple of star embellishments finished the job.

The postman bought me a lovely parcel today. I had asked on my blog about where people buy their gorgeous flowers from. Wild Orchid Crafts was recommended but they weren't delivering until later in the week so I went onto The Pretty Little Ribbon Shop and placed an order for lots of lovely flowers, lace and charms. Now bearing in mind that I only placed my order on Friday and we have had the weekend my order arrived this morning. How impressive is that? Unfortunately, then I found out that they are having a closing down sale because they are finishing. What a shame is all I can say! Anyway my goodies were gorgeous - I am very pleased with them.

Well enough waffle from me now as I seem to have gone on a bit today. Time for more crafting methinks...Lea x

Sunday already!

Hi everyone, I hope this finds you all well.

Wow, where on earth did the weekend go? I'm not sure whether it's flown because today is the first day I've been out after not being well. I just know that it has!

I'm afraid my crafting has took preference over the housework this weekend (there's some of us that think this is just as it should be). Unfortunately the cleaning fairy hasn't popped by and done it for me!

Anyway let's get to my card for today. I can't take any credit for the topper and sentiment for this card. They are from Angelica and Friends from Crafters Companion. I did however use my Spellbinder dies to frame it. I put some lace and ribbon at each end of some backing paper and then added some bling and flowers etc. The flowers were actually peel offs I've had for a long time. I'm not keen on peel offs particularly but these seemed to fit the bill. I just backed them onto purple card (green for the leaves) and cut round them. I don't think I made too bad a job of it.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:

I don't know who out there watches Create and Craft but as most of you will have gathered I am an avid viewer. Well this week while I was ill I hit my credit card and bought a new kit called Camden Town, again this is from Crafters Companion. Now as I have got a little better with my crafting I have tried not to use too many 'kit' components on my cards but I fell in love with the Camden Town kit so I bought it.

Boy,oh boy is it gorgeous in real life! I spread it all over the floor today (now you see why I got no housework done!) and played about putting bits together. This second card is one I made from the kit. I obviously added a bit of mirror card and some pearls etc to it but again I am really pleased with how it turned out. I wouldn't turn my nose up at it if I was sent it. What do you think? Have I broken any unspoken code in blogland about using kits to make cards? The kit also features loads of things to make men's cards which I always struggle with.

Well I am off for now. Hopefully I will catch up with you all again tomorrow....Lea x

Interesting shading!

Hello everyone out there in blogland.

Well I am having a lovely quiet day again today. I have sat engrossed in new products on Create and Craft...there's some lovely stuff on there today. Makes my heart sing and my credit card groan!

I have finished another's all go at the moment. I don't know how long it takes other people to make a card but it seems to take me all day to make just the one....I have no idea if that's normal. I sort of plan it. gather my papers and image together and then go with the flow. I then cut and place everything, then I decide I'm not keen on part of it that I've done so I then change it. Eventually it doesn't bear any resemblance to what I'd planned originally! As I said is this normal???

I started by colouring my image which is a digistamp I found floating around in cyberspace. I really like these 'Gorjus' images. They are really cute. I ended up with some interesting shading in her hair (hence the post name). I just can not colour black hair and I still struggle with other colours too. Mind you I haven't been colouring for long (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it). I have watched lots of videos on Youtube - I think I need to watch more haha. With this card I just kept adding bits to it as I went along and it is nothing like my original idea.. Still I really enjoyed doing it so that's all that matters. Hopefully you guys are enjoying your crafting. I always have a little look round when I wake up in the morning. It's really strange to think that when I'm doing that some of you are only just settling down for your nightime nap.

Well I must get myself into the kitchen and start making some dinner before my hubby gives me the sack (she says fingers crossed behind her back). Have a good evening (or day as the case maybe!)....until tomorrow then....Lea x

Hello all

Well here we are again. I can not believe we are more than half way through May already! I am pleased to report I am on my way to feeling quite a bit better than I did earlier in the week although still not 100%. I am so disappointed because I have had to cancel my two driving lessons this week which is not good as my driving test is looming in the not too distant future. Hey ho onwards and upwards!

I would like to thank Aussie Annie for her support while I have been poorly. She very kindly emailed me some fab digistamps. I was so chuffed - what an extremely kind thing to do especially as those who read her blog know that she has more than her fair share of problems. Thank you so much Annie. My thanks also to those that have sent me their best wishes.

I managed to finish a card this morning that I started days ago (but seems like weeks!). It is an image from one of my  Angelica and Friends (from Crafters Companion) stamps.

As you can see the card ended up with a real mish mash of things on it. It has ribbon, a doily, lace, pins, pearls, flowers and leaves and Uncle Tom Cobley and all (for those that don't know, that is from a saying meaning and loads more!). I am quite pleased with it even though it is a colour I don't often use - is it orange or is it a peachy colour?

I am in the process of sourcing some flowers at the mo. I have been scouring the net and have found a few places that sell what I'm looking for but if anyone knows of a place they use that is reasonably priced,  preferably in the U.K. please let me know. I would be grateful for some guidance. One thing I could still do while  poorly was blog hop (thank goodness for the iphone I say!) and I have seen some gorgeous cards with gorgeous flowers on.

Well I am off now as I think I have waffled on enough. Time to start another card I think. Catch you again soon....Lea x

Hello all

Well here I am still feeling quite rough but am trying not to feel too sorry for myself! Thank you for your kind wishes - hopefully I will soon be starting to feel human again!

I did get some colouring done yesterday so here's some piccies of it. I will post the cards as and when I make them. I must admit it was quite therapeutic just sitting quietly colouring even though it was a bit strange doing it from my bed.

This image of the girl with the brolly is one I found on the web while hunting down free digistamps. I have no idea who drew it but I think it is gorgeous. The girl in pink with flowers in her hair is another digistamp that was just floating around on the web too. I just loved her when I found her. The girl with the pink bow is a whoopsiedaisy image. I must admit they are some of my faves. The pram is one that I got with a set of stamps a few weeks a back. I bet you can't guess what sort of card I'm going to make with that!

Well I am off now possibly to do more colouring. Hopefully catch you again tomorrow...Lea x

Good afternoon all!

I hope this finds you well.

Well this post finds me sat on my bed with lots of plumped up pillows around me! Unfortunately I have a condition called Fibromyalgia which has completely wiped me out this weekend hence I have no card to show. Ive even had to cancel my driving lesson this morning. I was feeling extremely fed up earlier because its very hard to craft from my bed - I can hardly move my Grand Calibre etc upstairs can I? BUT I have now had a brainwave....there's nothing to stop me colouring in my bed. So I am feeling a little chirpier now and am going to colour lots of images I  have printed out and stamped over the last few weeks (I tend to get them ready and colour as I need them) so I have tons to do. So watch this space everyone, hopefully I will have something to post later even if its just my coloured images....Lea

Another Fathers Day card

Good morning everyone!

Hope you are having a fab day. The sun is trying to come out here along with huge black clouds. I have had a lovely relaxed morning so far.

I have another Fathers Day card to show today. Again it is an image from my Tumble Ted and Tizzy CD. The backing papers are also from it. This one is red and white and along the football theme as my Dad is a huge Liverpool fan. The light on the photo isn't very good but I think you get the picture.

I used peel off letters for the word 'Dad'. I rarely use peel offs as I am not very keen on them since I discovered stamping. My Tumble Ted image is decoupaged, again the photo doesn't really do it justice. I think I need to do something about my photography skills!

Anyway I am off for today. Hopefully we will catch up again tomorrow. Have a great day....Lea

Fathers Day!

Hello all

Well I have no idea what happened to my post yesterday. What a mess it looked when I looked a while after I had written it. The font was all different sizes, it was spread across other things on the page and the photos seemed to be all over the place. Did you see it or have my eyes gone awry? Well hopefully today's post will look a bit tidier! My thanks to all who visited and commented yesterday...hopefully you will pop in again today.

Another day has been and gone - where are the months going? I can't keep up! Today has been my whole day of working and I am shattered.  I thought today I would show you a card I made for Fathers Day which is next month in the U.K. (for those who have forgotten!). My image is a Tumble Ted one which was already coloured (no need for my lovely promarkers here) and the papers also came from the CD the image came from. It was all matt and layered onto gold mirri card.

Add a few embellishments and it's all done.

Well it has been a long day so I am off. I'm sure I'll be back tomorrow...Lea

Hi everyone

Well I can't believe it is Wednesday already.
I have decided to go and play on Julia's stamping ground  again for WOYWW.
Please feel free to join in at

I thoroughly love having a good mosey about at other people's work
desks. Mine isn't very thrilling this week. It is extremely tidy at my end. I only have my promarkers out ready to do some colouring.

I've also been doing a bit of blog hopping over on the Saturated Canary blog hop. This starts here. I have seen some fab cards and projects on this, well worth having a look at.

I would like to say thank you before I go to the ladies who commented on my post yesterday. Thank you for your kind words in my crisis of confidence....funny enough I had a funny moment with that same card. I had it stood up on the table this morning whilst minding my own business when I heard a sound like a bead falling on the floor. I looked around and could see nothing so decided it was my next door neighbour. Half an hour later I heard the same sound. I hunted high and low with no luck. I just happened to look at the card and on the left hand side was a space. I realised two of the black pearls were missing! That was the sound I could hear. They were lying on the floor. Very spooky!

Anyway I am off now. Thanks for popping by. Hopefully will be back

Black and white!

 Hello everyone

Well what a lovely day we've had again today. Its just a pity it has forcast rain for tomorrow! If it does rain it will be my first driving lesson in the rain. I was feeling very energetic again this morning and walked down to our local leisure centre. I was in the swimming pool by long will it last I ask myself?

My card today is for someone who is going to be 50 (as you can see!). To be honest I am not sure about it. I think I might have to re-look at it. There's something just not quite right about it and I can't put my finger on it. I may well change the 'Happy birthday' panel as I think the word 'birthday' may be too large.

Well I am not going to go on today as it is very late. I hopefully will catch you tomorrow. Until then....Lea

At long last!

Well  hello from sunny England although I have an awful feeling it won't last. This weekend has been absolutely fab. The sun certainly makes me and my hubby feel more energetic (don't even go there...). We have a sparkling clean house, a tidy garden, lovely clean windows and an empty ironing basket!

And best of all I've managed to make a little card. It's not very special, it is just one of those cards I sometimes feel like making - an easy going card.

I absolutely love the image. I found it a few weeks back while trawling the internet for freebie digistamps. Unfortunately I don't know who to attribute it to as the web link goes nowhere! Anyway I coloured her with my promarkers and cut her out using a lovely decorative spellbinder die and then I cut the decorative bit off because I preferred her without it. I then inked round the edge with a yellow distress ink. I added her to some flowered paper which was backed onto coloured card and added a bow, a rolled flower and a few gems. All in all it was a nice, easy going session.

Well I am off now to start another. This one is for a male friend who will be 50 next month so I need my serious head on now. Catch you all again soon....Lea

ps. I was lucky enough to win some of my favourite Whoopsiedaisy digistamps in a draw on the Whoopsidaisy challenge blog so I am chuffed because they are my favourite. Lucky me!

A little behind!

Hello everyone

I wish I did have! A little behind that is!!! So sorry everyone, of course what I really meant was I always seem to be a little behind these days. I just don't seem to be able to keep up with life. I think I am going to have to be realistic and not beat myself up when I don't get to blog. I have made a promise to myself that I am going to start organising myself better as I seem to be losing the plot lately.

I am pleased to say I did a little bit of crafting this afternoon though. I made a little card with some stamps I bought from Hobbycraft the other week. I am really pleased with them. Really the card was made because I just sort of stamped the different elements from the stamps then put them together in a little card. After I made it I realised it would make an ideal kids party invitation. It consists of the main image which I coloured with my promarkers, the bunting which I stamped onto striped paper and cut out, the sentiment and the little balloon also coloured with a promarker. I got all those stamps for just £1 which now I've used them I've realised what a bargain they were. I had another set too which I'll show you another time.

Just by fluke I have used spots and stripes so will enter this little card into:

Wednesday, 1 May 2013

Hi everyone

Well it is Wednesday and at this very moment I am writing this whilst peddling away on an exercise bike at the gym. My work desk is currently tidy, tidy, tidy (whoops except my bin)! I know - absolutely amazing. I do however intend making a mess when I return home.

I am in the process of adding to my storage bits in an attempt at organising and keeping the place tidy especially as it is our only sitting area. Hubby needed to sit the other evening and I had to move a ton of stuff off the sofa. Fortunately he doesn't really give me any grief.

The card I have posted today is made from a mixture of things from my stash and a decoupaged little princess from the Sugar Buttons collection  from Kanban. The sentiment is not very clear in the picture but it says 'for a special little girl' which is exactly who its's beautiful little Granddaughter Sophie who will be four this month.

Well I have finished peddling now so it is onto the treadmill next. I will finish here as I don't think I will be able to juggle that and typing a blog! think I can manage to do a bit of blog hopping though through  the stamping-ground blog for WOYWW. Until next time everyone....Lea
