Oh so pretty!

Well here we are again, another day has been and gone! I am having a whole day making cards today. I am ignoring my huge pile of ironing ( it seems to grow bigger every day).

I decided to have a pink day yesterday hence today's card is pink and pretty. I am very pleased with it. I used the labels 20 die from Spellbinders. I'm not sure who the recipient will be yet.

I am building up my cards at the moment. I am hoping to sell them at our school summer fayre later in the year. I don't know if other people are the same but I do have a problem deciding how much to charge for my cards. It is something I need to do some serious thinking about.
I think I will have to do a bit of exploring on the net.

Well I am off to make cards. Until tomorrow....Lea

I have entered this card into:  whoopsidaisychallenge - Bling

Spoilt for choice!

Good afternoon everyone.
I hope you are having a good Easter break. I must admit I have had a productive couple of days and unfortunately I don't mean in a crafty way. All the housework has been caught up with, just the horrible ironing to do (I am hoping the ironing fairy will pop by in the not too distant future). I have been able to get the last of my Nephew cards completed too in that spare moment we never have too!

I couldn't make up my mind what I wanted to use for this card. My dies and stamps are building up now and it is always decisions, decisions! In the end I used my Inkydoodles Argyle stamps to do my background paper. It always amazes me that a white piece of paper can be completely transformed. I just love these stamps and add in the Momento inks too you can't go wrong! I also used the Spellbinders Labels 20 die in conjuction with one of the stamps that go with them.

Yesterday I plucked up the courage to enter a couple of blog competitions. I probably won't fare very well but I decided I had nothing to lose by doing so. We've all got to start somewhere. I will probably enter a few more too on my blog hopping travels. I absolutely love blog hopping seeing what is out there. There are some extremely talented people in this world and I would like to thank everyone for the inspiration you give me.

Well I am off back to my crafty stash for a lovely few hours of crafting. Watch this space to see what I come up with.....Lea

Different for me

Hello All

I am going to scream in a minute (very quietly obviously), I can not get the layout right on this post today. Everytime I start a new line my pics drop down too. I will persevere and see what happens!

Well today's card is a little different to my normal cards. I started with my backing paper and  inked around the edges with distress ink. I had already stamped two labels using stamps from my favourite Inkydoodles (these stamps really do stamp brilliantly), then couldn't decide how to place them. I really am still learning.

In the end as you can see I only used one of them - I will save the other for another card which is forming in my head already. I used one of my Darice embossing folders to emboss tulips on coordinations paper then I sanded it back to give it a distressed look. My label, a stamped sentiment and some buttons finished the card off.

Well I do believe I have finally sorted the layout (she says holding her breath). I had better post this before it all disappears again on me. Until next time....Lea

Dining room table!

Good afternoon everyone! Well I am a little later today. I have been trying to get some housework done but my craft stuff keeps calling me. Someone once said to me if you have a crafter in the house you will never have a clear dining room table!! How right they were. Can you spot the apples? The table drives my son mad because he likes to eat at the table and depending on what I am up to on the day, he usually has to clear mountains of stuff first. Today it is quite clear. What he doesn't realise is that I am waiting for him to leave home so I can commadeer his bedroom for a craft room!

Todays card is the new revamp of a wedding card I did. As you can see it is very nearly the same. This is the first time I have done a card the same in the whole year I have been crafting but as it was by special request by my hubby I did it. It just has subtle changes. I hope the lady it is for is pleased with it.

Well I will get back to my 'housework' (aka crafting).  I am working on a card that is looking nice but it is a little different to my norm. I am not quite sure how it will finish up! Watch this space...Lea

Colouring!

Well I am pleased to say my colouring with promarkers is improving - that old saying of 'practise makes perfect' is true (well ok, maybe not QUITE perfect!). I really enjoy colouring. I find it extremely relaxing - the world just carries on around me. I had a piece of lime and cream checked card left over from a card I made the other week which I particularly liked so coloured Tizzy accordingly. Not bad methinks!

I also made the retirement card yesterday for my hubby which is very similar to the wedding card I had done, just different wording. I have decided not to post it for that reason. There are very slight differences but not many. Well that's me done for today. No crafting until later today as I have a few things on. The housework is calling me unfortunately so until tomorrow.....Lea

A Little Bit Sketchy!

Is it really blogging time again already? As I keep saying the days are absolutely flying at the moment.
I have had a lovely day hiding (cowering) away in the warm. I have been playing around with my promarkers.
This card today has been stamped using Sheena Douglass' A Little Bit Sketchy stamps and then coloured with my promarkers. It is similar to one I did before but I have completely changed the colour way. To be honest I prefer the colours I did before. Although I love pinks and purples this isn't really as bright as I would like it to be. I do love the large flower stamp from the set though.

Well I will carry on making my cards. My dearest, darling husband has just asked me to make him a card for a lady at his work who is retiring on....wait for it.....THURSDAY! I guess I'd better get my skates on. Fortunately he has chosen a design that I have done before on another card. I'm actually not too keen on completely replicating a card I have done before so I think it might just end up being done in different colours to the original one! Watch this space as I am sure it will be posted when it is finished.....Lea

Freezing!

Well here we are again. It is absolutely freezing and I just can't get warm even inside the house. I am going to look ridiculous crafting in mittens and scarf brrrrrr!

Today's card is one my grandson chose out of my finished cards to give to his mum. I hope she liked it. I am going to do the same design again but in a different colour way. I think I will colour the tulip stamp with bright colours next time. Another card I need to replicate is the card from yesterday - my daughter asked me to do one like it for her friend. It looks like I am going to keep busy during the school holidays ......Lea

Very Pink!

Good morning everyone! An early ish post this morning - I feel I've been awake for ages.

I've got another 'big' birthday card today. The style of this one is really quite different to what I  would normally do. Not a spellbinder in sight! To get the rounded corners I used a corner punch. I lightly inked all the edges with a Tim Holtz distress ink. I stamped and cut out the numbers by hand. Rather than add a bow like I usually do I added loops of ribbon in different shades of pink and then added a couple of knotted pieces of ribbon to dress the labels. I know the person the card has been made for will be pleased with it

Well that is all from me today. I will be back tomorrow.....Lea

Schools Out!

Well as the title says Schools Out for a whole two wonderful weeks.....let the crafting begin I say! I am so looking forward to this.

Today's card is a 'big' birthday one. It was for a friend at work whose birthday it was yesterday. As I have said before, I know such a lot of people that are celebrating special birthdays this year.

This card took me a while to get right. When I did a dry run and put the flowers in place I could not get them to look right. All it took in the end was a bit of ink on the petals so they didn't look so stark against the card. As you can see I also added quite a bit of bling to the card too! My friend seemed happy with it when she opened it which is the main thing.

Well I am off now back to some serious inking and promarkering (is there such a word?). Until tomorrow....Lea

Inkydoodles!

Well here I am counting the hours down until 1.30pm....then it is  my favourite time, the school holidays! I knew I worked in a school for a reason. Even better is the fact I am a teaching assistant not a teacher so I won't be at home planning etc for next term. The holidays are for crafting (with a smidge of housework, cooking, ironing etc of course!).

I had a lot of fun doing today's card. I decided to abort the 'big' birthday cards for the moment as I have a bit of leeway time wise. I decided to have a play with my new fabric Inkydoodles stamp. Again I can not tell you enough how much I absolutely love stamps by Inkydoodles. I first came across them on Create and Craft and the lady Sarah who creates and demonstrates  them is so, so talented. She comes up with some great ideas. They do have a website www.inkydoodles.co.uk so why don't you have a look if you haven't already. I can not believe how quick they despatch orders either. Everything I have ordered  has arrived the very next day......most impressive.

The card is for my nephew (if you didn't notice!). I used the fabric stamp to create the background. The great thing about these stamps is that there must be so many different combinations of colours I will be able to create.

I was really happy with the card to start with but then the more I looked at it the more I felt there was something missing. In the end I added an extra piece of bakers twine to it to create a bow. I think I got there in the end. What do you think?    Lea

Two days to go!

Good morning everyone. Now I know this has nothing to do with making cards whatsoever but I only have two more days at work before the school holidays. Actually I suppose it does in a way....I will have loads more time for crafting!

Well today's card is an anniversary card I made for my Sister and Brother-in-Law's anniversary. Its not very clear but the middle section is covered in my favourite micro beads. Now if you've never used them before you ought to try them. I love just running my fingers through them - they are fascinating little things (yep it doesn't take much to please me!). I really love the bling I added to the die cuts. I was after a flower effect - I think it worked! I think I need to work on my photography skills next though.

Well I am off now to continue with my 'big' birthday cards. Until tomorrow then...Lea

Butterflies!!!

Well I am shattered! I have just returned from work after staying late to help with our years 3/4 production at school. I am glad to report all went well. Only another two performances to go....

Well all those that know me well will be most suprised to see me posting a pic of a card with a butterfly on! I am one of those few people in the world that do not like these creatures (to be perfectly honest I am petrified of them!). Well as someone at work once said to me, other people do like them - who am I to argue? So I have started adding them to other people's cards. This card is actually quite a sweet card - it is only A6 size but actually seemed to take ages to make as it was a little bit fiddly. I used one of my favourite spellbinder dies, Venetian motifs and accents. Orange is not a colour I would usually use but this was more of a peachy colour. Adding the black for contrast works I feel.
Well it is time to call it a day I think. I am scheduling this to go live at 6am tomorrow. Then I can have a lovely long lay in! Until the next time.....Lea

Just because......

Well the title says it all about today's card. I made this one 'just because' I felt like doing something different. I used my new Inkydoodles 'Argyle' stamps and memento inks for the background of the card. I used my promarkers to colour in my ted. - I actually changed Tumble Ted into Tizzy by giving him/her a pink patch on the head! To be quite honest after the palaver with the Silver Wedding card, today I decided to do no planning and just went with the flow and this is what I came up with! I can think of nothing as relaxing as colouring with my promarker pens. I think I need a bit more practice with the background stamps....another excuse to craft! I think the world will be my oyster with the Inkydoodle stamps because there must be thousands of colour combinations. I also received the Inkydoodle fabric stamps for my birthday. I am so looking forward to getting a chance to play with those too.

I am off now to start work on two more cards for 'big' birthdays, one a 40th and the other a 50th. One is for a man - I usually find cards for men a bit trickier to do. I am definitely a girlie card maker. Watch this space to see what I come up with.....Lea

Silver Wedding card!

Well everyone I got there in the end although it still took quite a lot of thinking about. I think the problem comes when I'm working with colours I am not so keen on. I much prefer purples, pinks and lovely pastel colours. I just couldn't get the pieces cut out with the spellbinder dies to 'stand out' as I wanted. Believe it or not all it took was a bit of silver mirror board to back it and hey presto! it looked a whole lot better. I find it so frustrating when things don't go to plan straight away!
I just hope my Mother-in-Law likes it as she has ordered it for a family member. I must admit I am keeping busy with orders at the moment (although they are from family members and friends). I always have a bit of a worry about what to charge them when they are family. I would love to know how other people fare on this matter as I find it quite a tricky one. This card is an 8x8 card so a fair size.  Anyway I think I am off to do something in lovely gorgeous colours now - hopefully it will help me get my mojo back! Until tomorrow everyone...Lea

I hate ironing!

Yes I know everyone, ironing has absolutely nothing to do with making cards - only it does when it interferes with my crafting time. I have a huge pile I need to do! I think it all grew while my hands have been busy doing other things....I don't know what that could've been!!! Unfortunately the ironing is going to have to take precedence over my cards today.

I had an awful evening yesterday trying to design my silver wedding card so I had to put it to one side while I had a think about which way it is going. It just would not come together....I will have to have a blog hop to see if I can get some inspiration.

I have posted a card I did for a friend. It is one of those that one minute I really quite like it, another I think Mmmmm not sure.....a friend said it looked a bit funeralistic (is that a word?) - I said I would hardly put on 'congratulations on your special day'!

I would be interested in your thoughts.....until next time...Lea

Loving weekends!

Well it is one of my favourite days of the week. What more could a girl want but to sit and craft all day (in between the cooking, the cleaning, the washing, the ironing etc etc!). Seriously though I hope you people out there are relaxing too. I am wondering how many of my wonderful colleagues have sore heads this morning - we all had a well deserved brilliant time last night.

Anyway to today's card -  I did this one a few weeks ago. As someone who is not too keen on green I really wasn't sure about it after I'd made it, but it has grown on me. Again it is another 50th card (I did say I had a ton of them to do!) All around me seem to be getting to the 'big' birthday stage. It is becoming hard to come up with different designs for them all as they all know each other! I just hope they like them......

Anyway I am off to do some cardmaking, this time for a silver wedding anniversary....until tomorrow folks....Lea

An early one today (or not!)

Good morning all! I am up bright and early this morning.....oh ok then, not quite as early as some! I had a lovely meal out with my hubby (aka the old goat!) last night for my birthday. Back to reality today, although after a drought of nights out, I have another tonight. I need to congratulate all my colleagues and friends at Coney Hill Community Primary School, on receiving 'outstanding' in all aspects of our Ofsted report. It is thoroughly deserved as everyone works so hard. Let's hope we have an 'outstanding' evening tonight to celebrate.

Today's card is very obviously purple. I love anything purple and pink (and with flowers on!). This was one of my first stamping episodes and one of my first cards that I inked and embossed the background myself. As I received some fab new inks and stamps for my birthday I am intending to do more in this way. Watch this space.....Lea

Birthday girl!

Sorry fellow bloggers but it is my turn to be the birthday girl today so I have no card to show. I have received loads of fab cards, many with bows and jewels.....some very, very handmade cards....I wonder why!!! Thank you to all those 'fellow crafters' - you know who you are. Maybe tomorrow I will display their work on here. Am off out for a lovely meal with my hubby tonight so no crafting for me. Same time, same place tomorrow then.....Lea

The other Son card!

Well I said the other day I had another 'Son' card to post. At that time for some strange reason I couldn't get it to rotate. Now it is playing ball so here it is! The colours are not what I would usually go for as I am not so keen on yellow but as this was for the 'fussy' son it had to be right....and it was! I would be interested to know your views on it - please feel free to comment! Until next time.....Lea

Mothers Day card

Well here we are again - I can not believe how quickly the days are flying! I have had a fab day today. I've got loads done - housework, driving lesson, popped to the shops and now doing some serious crafting. Today's card is the Mothers Day card I made for my Mum. I really must remember to take the photo before I have bagged my cards (hence the light source in the corner!). It was actually one of the first promarker projects I did. I wasn't quite happy originally with the flower in the corner but I went back over it with the promarkers before sending it to Mum and once I'd done that I felt better about it. Am off to start a silver wedding anniversary card now. I am being asked to do a few more cards now so need to organise myself better. Am off now. Until tomorrow.....Lea

Shattered!

Good evening everyone! Well I have just returned from a fab day spent with my family. I thought I would spend five minutes posting on here before I fall into my bed. I have posted pics of two cards I made for my Mother-in-Law for her birthday. As you can see I have used dies from spellbinders on both of them - these really are my favourite thing to use. Even the flowers are made from spellbinders.

Well time to fall into my bed methinks....fortunately I  have no work tomorrow. Wonderful!!!!

Well until tomorrow....Lea

Another 50th

As I said yesterday I have a lot of 50th birthday cards to make. Here's another - this one is for my very own 'baby' sister. It's quite different to anything I've done before. I covered all the pretty backing paper with adhesive sheet then added micro beads to it. This gave it a shiny look. It is actually a very pretty card in real life.

Well that's all for today. Until tomorrow all....Lea

A busy few days!

Hello All
Well it's been a busy few days - I actually have no idea what I have done in the time (not enough card making I know that!). Today has absolutely flown too. I have been trying to catch up on programs I taped from Create and Craft (Stamps to die For 4 day deal). Fortunately it is my birthday next week and my lovely hubby has bought me some of the brilliant goodies on the shows. If you haven't ever watched Sue Wilson make her fab cards you do not know what you are missing. They are fabulous!

Anyway I have managed to make a couple of cards whilst watching....one was just for fun - a little colouring with the promarkers and the other is for a 50th birthday. I seem to have an awful lot of  'big' birthdays to make cards for at the mo. I'm pretty happy with the results anyway. Time for more crafting I think.....until tomorrow then......Lea

A Late one!

Well everyone today's blog is extremely late - it's been an extremely busy day - unfortunately nothing involving making cards. Tomorrow I have my theory driving test so have been practising for that. Fingers crossed please! Watch this space.

The card I have posted today is one I made for my sister-in-laws birthday. I must admit if it has pink on it I like it! Anyway enough from me today. I think I need an early night ready for the morning....night all....lea

Birthday cards!

Afternoon all. Well it has taken me a while to get going today. I have posted two birthday cards I made for my eldest son. They are two of my earliest creations. I also have a grey and yellow version of the 'son' card (it looks better than it sounds......honest!) but I am struggling to rotate it - I wouldn't want you to end up with a crick in your neck. Think that one will have to wait for another day.

Last night I decided to have a go at a technique I saw Ali Reeve do on her Masks2 DVD. It involved using a clear Versamark ink pad, a mask that came with the DVD and clear embossing powder. As a first attempt I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. I reckon it could be a good 'batch' card if it was made in different colours.

Well that's me done for today. Until tomorrow....best wishes.....Lea

Flowers!

Afternoon all! March and April are very busy months for me with loads of family and friend's birthdays. In the next month I have four nephews that have birthdays.  Coming up with something different each time is a bit of a challenge. Below are three cards I have done so far with them in mind!

Last night I decided to try something completely different for me. As I said I am just getting into stamping and my collection is starting to grow now. Knowing how to use them is another matter all together so it is a bit trial and error at the moment. I stamped the flowers and foliage from Sheena Douglass' A Little Bit Sketchy stamps. I then coloured them with my promarkers (which incidently I find very relaxing) and then just sat and looked for about an hour! Eventually this is what I came up with.....I must admit I do love it. It is so me - I love bright colours and I absolutely love anything with flowers on. I would love to hear your thoughts on it....good or bad....If you are visiting this blog I would really value some opinions on my cards.

Well that is me done for today. Time for some more crafting and blog hopping I think! Until tomorrow.......

All the best......Lea
