Happy Christmas

Hi all

I'm not going to write a whole lot tonight. I'm feeling a bit on the quiet side which is a miracle really lol!

My card is made using the Midnight blue card again. I layered it with cream card. The top layer was embossed using a Sue Wilson card. The wreathe was made using a Tonic die. I cut this out three times and offset it. The poinsettia is the old faithful which is an SB die. I added navy stitched ribbon and tons of clear gems and pearls. The sentiment was from an LOTV stamp.

There you go guys I said it would be short and sweet. Be back again soon...take care all....Lea x

More weaving!

Hi all

Here we are again! It's still freezing cold out. I had to brave it for some blood tests but I wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere otherwise. Apparently it's going to be very cold tonight and tomorrow....bbbbrrrr!

Anyway I have another woven card today. I've used the same Midnight blue card...I just love this colour...it's so classy! My weave this time is different to the last two cards - the weaving dies are so versatile and you can make all sorts of patterns with any colour way you fancy. The other great thing is you can mix the pierced pieces with the waste pieces (look carefully you'll see the plain pieces which are left over after cutting the die) and get the effect I've got here. I also used the double pierced square to make an aperture to sit round the pierced piece. This was all layered with coconut white card. The sentiment is from a stamp set by Creative Expressions...it's a lovely set of stamps with lots of flowers and a few sentiments.

Anyway I'm really pleased with this card - I've just got to find the right finishing touches for it......Lea x

My new love!

Hello all

Wow what's happened to the weather....I think it's either you love it or you hate it weather. I like looking at it but I'm not sure I'd want to be out in it. I must admit it's the deepest snow I've seen for years.

Thank you for your very supportive thoughts on my last post. It really makes you think about how many people there are in the same boat as you out there. I want you to know you are all in my thoughts too.

Right now to my card. You must be wondering what my new love is....well it is Sue Wilson Intermediate Weaving die. Julia Watts is very much a fan of this die and she has now got me addicted. I've made two cards using it and have two more weaved backgrounds ready for more cards. Looks like my family who have birthdays in February will be getting weaved cards. This card is actually for Mr B for his birthday - don't worry folks the likelihood of Mr B looking at my blog is zero so he won't see it! I haven't put the gems on yet as I need to get the right ones - another excuse to spend money on crafty goodies.

The only thing that is not from Sue Wilson or Creative Expressions is the embossing folder used on the background - that is from Crafters Companion and the 'husband' stamp and die which is from Clearly Besotted. I just love the Hexagon dies...I bought the other two decorative sets too as I got a fab deal on Black Friday from Craftstash - the price and delivery were excellent so I would definitely use them again. The blue card is Midnight blue and is gorgeous. I really like the Creative Expression card and seem to be going through tons at the mo.

This second card is not one I can take credit for as I made it at Julia Watts workshop a few weeks ago. I tweaked mine slightly by reorientating it, changing the flowers and adding a ribbon and bow. It does show how different the weaving die can look. You can see the original card and more of Julia's cards on her Facebook page or her website https://juliawattscrafts.co.uk/ if you go on the weaving dies it shows lots of Julia's examples.

Right folks that's me finished rambling on. I'll be back with another weaved card tomorrow.....Lea X

Stars galore!

Hi everyone

Well im sorry I've been awol for a few days....I've not really been in the mood tbh. We are heading towards Christmas very fast and unfortunately it's not having a very good effect on me. Memories from last year are creeping in. Mum was taken extremely ill just after Christmas last year and I didn't realise at the time it would be the last christmas with my darling Dad. Mum and Dad have come to us for Christmas for the last 14 years.  Dad and I used to love being in the kitchen together with a glass of port on Christmas morning - I used to love the fact he'd steal the Christmas chocolates off my Christmas tree and leave the empty wrappers hanging for me to find. I'll be very honest and say I really would cancel Christmas this year if I could get away with it. Unfortunately I can't so I will soldier on (they'll be no choccies on the tree though!). Sorry guys I really am feeling sorry for myself today - I know there are certain other lovely crafters going through the same thing - I'm thinking of you.

Now I've finished whinging I'll tell you about my card. I used a Sue Wilson embossing folder for the Kraftcard star background. The teddy was coloured in a long, long time ago and was just in a box in my cupboard. I think he was one of my first forays into colouring with Promarkers. The Stars were cut out using a Sapphire die. I have no idea where the sentiment came from. I finished the card with blue gems.

Well that is me definitely done today folks. I hope to be a bit cheerier next time I pop in. Catch you again soon....Lea X

Awesome son!

Hi all

I hope this finds you well. This is a short post as I am really tired today. I am having a very quiet day.

This card was for my youngest son's birthday. I was playing around trying to make a buckle card. I wasn't completely happy with it...I just feel there's something missing. It wasn't until I had put the card together I realised the middle die cut is facing the wrong way. I meant to have all the buckle parts facing the same way.....heyho I suppose it works. The star embossing folder used is a Sue Wilson one - the buckle is made using an old SB labels 18 die set. The sentiment was cut in the cream and the navy  - I then offset the navy behind the stamped word. I then cut the flag from a Sue Wilson die and threaded it through the buckle. I finished with navy gems.

Thanks for coming by...I'm off for a nap now.....Lea x

Special Grandson

Hello everyone

Thanks for coming by....and for your lovely comments. Mum read all your comments yesterday - she was quite amused at them....thank you!

My first card today is the one I made for my youngest grandson Nyle. The image reminds me of him as he is an absolute whirlwind. The image is from an LOTV stamp. When I use this stamp I quite often leave it black and ┼Áhite. The wording is also LOTV. Obviously Ive used lots of black and white layers. The number is from a Tonic die. I finished this card with bakers twine and some black pearls.

I also used the stamp for this card for my nephew. As you can see I kept it monochrome again. The background was made from a large stamp but I have no idea where it's from. I finished with black pearls again.

Well that's me for today...have a great day tomorrow...Lea X

Christening card!

Good evening all

Well here I am again. Just a short post from me. My card is a commissioned christening card - I always worry about making cards to order in case the card isn't what the customer expected. Fortunately all was ok with this one.

I stuck to my tried and tested format with this card. The little girl is from an LOTV art pad...she is just so cute. The wording was PC generated and cut out with SB loopy circles dies. The balloon die cut is from a Sapphire die. I just added ribbon, lace and pearls to pretty it all up. I then made a matching box. The die cut on the box is from Tonic.

Thanks for coming by and for your lovely comments....Lea x
